Happy #WorldSoilDay! 🌍🌱 Today, we celebrate the incredible foundation of life—our soil. Healthy soils are the key to nourishing our planet, sustaining crops, and combating climate change. By improving photosynthesis in crops, #PhotoSeed can capture more carbon in root biomass, leading to healthier soil🌾

Mangroves are a remarkably diverse and important ecosystem that works in tandem with other marine ecosystems including seagrass beds and coral reefs all of which are essential not only for the health of our ocean, coasts and the #biodiversity that they support, but for the wellbeing of humans, We also need to protect and restore our #mangroves as they are an important habitat and source of food supplies for many indigenous peoples and local communities around the globe Protecting mangroves and restoring damaged ones also helps combat #climatechange through carbon sequestration as they are some of the most carbon-rich #ecosystems on the planet, storing on average 1,000 tonnes of carbon per Ha in their biomass and underlying soils #ecosystemservices #gpi2050 🌱

Today is World Ozone Day 🌎 a day that is celebrated worldwide to raise awareness and teach us how we can all contribute to preserving our planet. One way we contribute to a healthier planet is through regenerative farming practices that help farmers improve water retention, maintain crop yields, increase farm productivity, enhance climate resilience, and heal the ozone layer. Agro-food forests act as carbon sinks, absorbing carbon dioxide from the air and storing it in their biomass and soils. This reduces the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which in turn helps to safeguard the ozone layer. This approach contributes to a healthier planet and a more secure ozone layer for generations to come. #WorldOzoneDay #solorganica #organicfruit #regenerativeorganic #regenerativeorganiccertified #regenerativeagriculture #sustainableagriculture #bcorp #bcorporation #fairtrade #nongmo #regenerative #soilhealth #healthysoil #regenerativefarms

Biochar presents compelling climate, agronomic, and environmental benefits. Thanks to its organic carbon component, which is notably more stable than the feedstock biomass it originates from, biochar holds significant potential for climate change mitigation when utilized as a carbon removal strategy on a global scale. At FORLIANCE, we're deeply engaged in ecosystem protection projects, including biochar initiatives. Get in touch with us to delve deeper into these projects and learn more about our ongoing efforts. #biochar #carbon #climate #FORLIANCE

#liquidtree Algae are photosynthetic organisms found in various environments, including oceans, freshwater, and damp soils. They range from microscopic forms, like phytoplankton, to large seaweeds. Algae are vital for oxygen production, CO2 removal, and ecosystem support. They are classified into types like: 1.Green Algae (Chlorophyta): Efficient in photosynthesis, used in biofuel and water treatment. 2. Brown Algae (Phaeophyta): Marine, used for biofuels and bioactive compounds. 3.Red Algae (Rhodophyta): Marine, used in food and heavy metal removal. 4.Blue-Green Algae (Cyanobacteria): Nitrogen-fixing, used in wastewater treatment. 5. Diatoms (Bacillariophyta): Unicellular, key for carbon sequestration. Algae are essential for bioremediation, removing pollutants, heavy metals, and CO2, helping in water treatment and climate mitigation. Here is an image depicting different types of algae in an aquatic environment, illustrating their role in water remediation and carbon capture. This visual can show how microalgae and macroalgae contribute to environmental cleanup.#Spandan Talukdar #environmentsolutions #amnsityinternationl #unitednation #womenascension

The complex reality of algae: while these vibrant blooms can be visually stunning, they also tell a cautionary tale. Algae are essential to our planet. They: 🌎 Act as a carbon sink, absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere. 🐟 Form the base of the aquatic food web, providing sustenance for countless creatures. 💨 Produce oxygen, vital for life on Earth. But when algae grows out of control, it can disrupt ecosystems, deplete oxygen levels, and even release harmful toxins. In fact, excessive algae growth can actually release the carbon it once captured, contributing to climate change. ⚠️ In addition to that, when the algae dies, it releases methane - a greenhouse gas that's 28-34x more potent than CO2! 🤯 At BLOOM, we're working to strike a balance. We harvest excess algae, transforming it into sustainable materials and restoring the health of our waterways. 🌱♻️ It's a reminder that nature's beauty and power must be respected and managed responsibly. Have you ever witnessed an algae bloom like this one? Tell us about it below! #MadeWithBLOOM #algae #cleanwater #cleanair #oceancleanup

Carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide - oh my! GHG emissions are spooky, but possibly the spookiest is methane emissions because they have a warming power 80x more than carbon dioxide 👻. One of the biggest opportunities to address two main sources of methane in agriculture is through #Biodigesters. But a lot of work needs to be done to help address the challenges and create a stronger case for farmers to implement biodigester solutions. So here are three things we did this month to help advance this work! 1) We attended and presented at the #ValueOfBiogas West Conference to chat with folks in agriculture about CANZA's National Biodigester Initiative. 2) We supported Generate Canada in releasing the fourth episode of #TheAgPodcast on biodigesters. Watch and listen here -> https://lnkd.in/gJmA98Sb 3) We wrote a blog post about the opportunities of biodigesters as a circular solution. Read it here -> https://lnkd.in/gwyNDqYC #ThrowbackThursday #Biogas #HappyHalloween #CanadianAgriculture #CircularEconomyMonth Circular Economy Leadership Canada Generate Canada Circular Economy Month
