"Your digital legacy matters." This was the thought that sparked Itterno's journey. Today, as DTU X-Tech announces our Grand Award win, I remember the day we first discussed how complicated it is for families to handle their loved ones' digital accounts after they pass. This 100,000 kr prize isn't just validation - it's fuel for our mission to revolutionize how families handle digital legacies during their time of grief. Every user interview, every line of code, and every challenge we've faced has strengthened our resolve to make digital legacy management more human, more thoughtful. Every year, millions of families face the overwhelming task of managing their loved ones' digital lives after they pass. Today's recognition from DTU isn't just about our team's achievement - it's about acknowledging this crucial challenge that affects everyone in our digital age. To every family who has shared their story with us: your experiences drive our innovation. To our mentors and advisors: your guidance shapes our path. To our future users: we're building this for you. The future of digital legacy management starts now. 💫 #DeathTech #DigitalLegacy #DTU #StartupLife

Are the biggest conferences the most instructive? Not always. Tuesday reminded me once again of the value of small events. As part of their Digital Weeks, Landkreis Leer and Niedersachsen.ai organized an event worth experiencing: "#AI in Software #Technology and Beyond" by Prof. Dr. Niels Streekmann from the University of Emden/Leer. The talk was not just informative but truly engaging. The highlight, however, was the presentation by SeesDisease a local startup founded by two young innovators, Lorenz Rutkevich and his brother David Rutkevich, only 17 and 20 years old. They’re developing AI models that automate microscopy analyses, paving the way for faster, more precise diagnoses—something unique in Germany. My takeaway: Small local events can be not only entertaining but also incredibly eye-opening, showcasing raw innovative power without the overbranding often seen on big stages. What about you? Local startup events or large conferences? Which one has more innovative power? Ps. Thanks Jan Pleis for the invitation!

As part of the Permanent Conference (StäKo) of the Berlin Public Libraries Consortium (VÖBB) 📚, we conducted an intensive future workshop focusing on enhancing the consortium's crisis resilience. Under the motto "StäKo 2027: Mastering Challenges Together", participants engaged in a semi-fictional scenario simulation designed to confront them with realistic and future-oriented challenges 🚀 The workshop aimed to prepare the StäKo for significant financial cuts and the growing cultural struggle posed by extremist parties. Special attention was given to identifying vulnerabilities and blind spots, as well as developing concrete action options for the years ahead. The simulation yielded valuable insights that will strengthen VÖBB's resilience and establish proactive strategies. 🔍 A key outcome of the workshop was the consensus on addressing challenges preventively before they escalate into acute issues. This will require a systematic approach to implementing the identified measures. Participants were notably engaged in the scenario, fostering open and respectful communication that illuminated diverse perspectives and addressed crucial issues. Through this thorough exploration of potential crisis scenarios 🌐, StäKo's resilience has been further bolstered. The workshop underscored VÖBB's progress in better preparing for future challenges and adopting a proactive approach. We extend our gratitude to all participants for their dedication and valuable contributions, which aim to make Berlin's library landscape more resilient and sustainable for the future. #StäKo2027 #BerlinLibraries #VÖBB #CrisisResilience #FutureWorkshop #CommunityEngagement #ProactiveStrategies #SustainableLibraries #LibraryInnovation #PublicLibraries

Last July, the Fab City Foundation, in collaboration with Ibero IDIT Puebla and the Fab Foundation, hosted the third annual Fab City Challenge, this year in Mexico. This inspiring event brought together over 40 innovators from 25+ countries to tackle 7 unique challenges across 6 regions of Mexico. 🇲🇽 For 10 days, participants worked alongside local hosts and communities to explore, ideate, prototype, test, and refine solutions to some of Mexico’s most pressing challenges, such as water scarcity and biodiversity loss. 🌱 This short film captures the essence of those 10 days—highlighting the experiences of international participants, local collaborators, and communities. It showcases the powerful impact of the Fab City Challenge: from empowering local communities and learning sustainable local practices to celebrating cultural diversity and engaging in global collaboration. 🌐 Filmed collaboratively with local filmmakers from each region, this documentary offers a distributed perspective on the challenges and solutions explored during the event. 🌎 Join us on this incredible journey to witness how innovation, culture, and collaboration come together to create lasting change.
