5 of the hottest new hotel openings in Oman

Oman is set to add over 40 new hotels in the next two years as the country’s popularity among both leisure and business travellers continues to rocket.

Its capital Muscat has been named one of 2025’s best places to visit by Condé Nast Traveller. The city has welcomed several notable new properties this year, with more on the horizon.

So, we shine the spotlight on some of the most exciting openings in Muscat and beyond…

Mandarin Oriental , Muscat

Marking the group’s debut in Oman, the Mandarin Oriental, Muscat opened its doors in June. Located in Shatti al Qurum, Mandarin Oriental Muscat offers 103 rooms and 47 suites.

Designed by renowned French interior designer Xavier Cartron, the hotel’s architecture draws inspiration from the richness and diversity of Oman’s culture, with the grand Omani wooden doors into the lobby and three fountains that reflect the country’s Middle East, African and Asian heritage.

There are five restaurants including Rawya, a Euro-Asian brasserie inspired by a journey across the Silk Road, Italian eatery Essenza, featuring traditional recipes passed down through generations, and The Mandarin Cake Shop which specialises in indulgent pastries and cakes.

For meetings and events, the hotel offers 2,000 square metres of indoor venues and an additional 335 square metres of outdoor, including an 800-square-metre ballroom with sea views and three dedicated banqueting and meeting spaces.

The St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat Resort

The five-star St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat Resort also opened in June, in the heart of Al Mouj, an exclusive waterfront neighbourhood known for its luxurious beachfront living.

The resort’s curved superyacht-style architecture draws inspiration from the surrounding environment and features a unique wave design, while the interiors showcase an artwork collection with pieces from renowned Omani artists alongside prominent international artists.

There are 250 rooms and suites including one-to-three-bedroom duplexes, offering expansive ocean, golf course or city views, and nine dining options including internationally acclaimed and Michelin-starred concepts.
