7 most promising trends in healthcare for 2021 in Latin America

COVID-19 has been an accelerator for the adoption of digital health solutions by at least 10 years. This situation is vivid even in Latinamerica and the hispanic community in USA.

In 2020, i was asked many times about the changes COVID-19 has brought about in healthcare. Most of these changes are likely to stay with us, and in 2021, some will bear more fruit than ever.

Let’s have a look at the 7 most promising trends in healthcare according to Âlthar:

Primary Care Telemedicine: We expect a further expansion of primary care practices in telemedicine, and it will become part of the new norm within medical care.

Telepharmacy. With the consultation, why to call - by phone - to the pharmacy, telepharmacy integrated services with the convenience and prices cuts are going to be trending.

Electronic Medical Record. People and patients are realizing that the data is important, to be secure, integrated, available and portable, the best way in your mobile, no matter the provider, patients are the owners of their data.

Self-monitoring: At-home monitoring programs will be crucial for vulnerable patient populations and seniors. Chronic conditions are going to be monitored from home, without the risk to going out frequently to hospital services (COVID contagious risk).

Artificial intelligence and data analytics: From diagnostics to public health, I hope to see more real world data, prospective studies, more recommendations from medical associations about explainable AI. More primary care clinical decisions supported in AI, patients diagnosis and treatment selection.

At-home lab tests: This year we expect for the first time in Latinamerica at-home COVID-19 and Antigen test kits to be available, everywhere around the globe, and with this the explosion of other test for other conditions.

Real Healthcare Information in Social Media: In 2020 with the COVID-19, we saw oceans of misinformation, the cure: Real Healthcare Information, based on the accuracy of facts, medical evidence and with the minimalist approach to be understood and available on social media for everyone.
