How did I help this review bundle client "getting application rejections the same day as [they] apply?"
I explained to them that 1) the way they were presenting their info was doing their experience a disservice, 2) they were controlling the narrative of their career in an ineffective in terms of how they were listing their experience, and 3) the lack of context didn't highlight how their experience matched the roles they were applying for.
Basically (and I say this with love), the resume was a chaotic mess.
Look, on the initial resume review, you only have 6-10 seconds to either be shortlisted for further review or rejected. It's ridiculously hard to get shortlisted if your resume isn't explaining how your background fits the role you're applying for. For the applicant, "being qualified" and "the recruiter seeing you are qualified" are 2 different things.
You need present your resume in a clear, focused, way. It's possible to have a resume that's both focused and heavy on context. Highlighting the wrong things, leaving off context, and presenting information in a cluttered or ineffective order can lead to rejections even for positions you are easily qualified for.
