On this Thanksgiving Day, I warmly greet everyone—family, extended family, friends, and those who have enriched my life over 80 years in India, North America, and beyond. I also extend gratitude to the global farmers and hardworking individuals, documented or not, whose efforts provide us with functional foods that nourish our bodies and sustain our lives.

In this life journey, we are graced with countless small and large blessings that enrich our days, uplift our spirits, and strengthen our souls. Living in the USA offers us abundant opportunities for gratitude, extending far beyond food, shelter, and clothing. One of the most cherished blessings is the connection we share through our cosmic family and the wisdom gained from one another.

This Thanksgiving, I would like to honor Neal Barnard, MD, whose honesty and unwavering dedication to truth have been a divine gift to humanity. Since 2000, his scientific contributions and advocacy for plant-based eating have lifted the veil of ignorance and brought hope, health, and enlightenment to millions worldwide.

May your Thanksgiving be filled with peace, joy, abundant love, forgiveness, and tolerance for all. Together, let us celebrate the power of good food, the strength of community, and the boundless potential of the human spirit to heal and thrive.

"I deeply admire my dad’s commitment to eating healthfully 90% of the time. Watching him has taught me so much about the power of food and its profound impact on our well-being.

And yes, Kareena, I know I can eat this way too—anyone can! But like so many, I’ve been conditioned by the Standard American Diet and my inner 14-year-old's 'junk food palate.' Changing my mindset doesn’t always feel intuitive, but I know the benefits are life-changing.

There was a magical six-month stretch in 2022 when I chose to eat 95% whole-food, plant-based (WFPB). That decision completely transformed my body. It helped me heal from Long Covid, reducing my primary inflammation marker by an incredible 70%!

While I haven’t fully maintained that way of eating, I’m fortunate to share many meals with my dad, whose enthusiasm and dedication to preparing nutrient-packed, delicious meals continue to inspire me.

This journey has shown me that we all have the power to change how we eat. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about making small, consistent choices that heal and nourish us over time.

So here’s my advice: Start small, but start today. Every healthy meal is a step toward a more robust, happier, and more vibrant you.”
