What a feeling - can you believe what they are saying about the new NZ Non-Alc Golden Lager!

Well it's a few emotions - relief that our new Golden Lager beer has hit the spot.

Pride - the brew team at BStudio in Napier have done an awesome job.

Excitement for the summer ahead - especially after seeing the full lineup of our brews at Hastings New World. - FIVE six packs!!

The perfect pour - Beers with Brucey

We need your help

We can sell Golden Lager (and the whole range) at New World, Pak N Save and FreshChoice).

We are not a 'compulsory range' so it is up to the discretion of the store liquor manager to range our beers.

The store needs the confidence that any new line will move off the shelf. So if you ask/email your local store to stock Golden lager - they just might. All the codes are set up and we deliver direct to store.

And there is a very tight window in November to get onto the shelf before it all gets locked in for summer.

We are doing our best to push our range, so if you can pull it through with a prompt that would be totally awesome.

Big thanks the the Beerfluencers

I sent some beers out to some great people around NZ that take one for the team and review all the new brews and offer their review. These guys are legit honest - they say if they like it, or not. So it's a nervous excitement to see how the beer interview goes with a new brew.

It couldn't have gone better - there is a lot of State of Play love out there and we got some great posts and pics to give the thirsty public the confidence to treat themselves a new brew.

Another fantastic brew from State Of Play - Nick

The Pursuit of Hoppiness review - Golden lager

Michael Donaldson is the leading beer writer, commentator and advisor of all things beer in NZ. He supports the NEW WORLD team on their NEW Brews program and has a great weekly newsletter - FRIDAY NIGHT BEERS.. Here is what he had to say..

Beer of the Week No 1

It’s not often that I go for a non-alcoholic drop at the top of this dispatch — but for the second time in three weeks I’m seriously impressed.

Making a great lager is hard, we know that, because there’s nowhere to hide. Making a great non-alcoholic lager? There would be a tendency to leave it to the big multinationals … but thankfully State of Play decided to go there with their new Golden Lager.

Nutty, biscuity malt meets long and lingering bitterness through the use of Amplifire Riwaka hop oil. In fact, it’s quite a hoppy lager, and I think using the hop oil helps keep the bitterness long but gentle.

The flavour is matched by the body and mouthfeel, again the hop oils may be helping here. Plus, it has lovely head retention for a non-alc.

All in all, a triumph.

We have sold half the first batch - so give your store a nudge or get a case online. You can get the ideal case of FOUR six-packs of the different State of play beers!!

Check out the range at NW Vic Park, Auckland - cheers Dom

A Beer Top Tip

Pour two glasses of beer from the same can.

One glass poured slow and flat (no Head), the other with some gusto and a big white head.

Then taste the difference in the exactly the same beer. Amazing eh!
