Announcing a fabulous learning opportunity - a deep dive into the application of regenerative thinking to places!

With this post I am inviting any colleagues or readers who are seriously interested in investigating the depth, breadth and transformative power of regenerative thinking to tourism destinations to join me on this online learning journey developed by Jenny Andersson of Really Regenerative that starts 23rd February, 2023.

The Power of Place Learning Journey is perfect for professionals involved in tourism management because it's not just about tourism but about places as living systems. Yes, tourism is all about places - we call them destinations - but we cannot afford to either focus on bringing more visitors, or dealing with management issues when we're successful, without fully understanding the contribution tourism makes (positive and negative) to the community as a whole and learning to work collaboratively with other stakeholders.

Nor do we have the time to focus on a set of problems or their solutions separately or sequentially, operating from our silo's dominated by marketing and PR. We have to learn to actively attentively listen to the needs and aspirations of all the people calling the destination home and work collaboratively with those committed to enabling a place to flourish - biophysically, socially, economically and culturally.

I can heartily recommend this course for several reasons:

·      Jenny Andersson is one of the most experienced place-based regenerative practitioners - worthy of the title expert;

·      I've taken the course, learned loads and am still learning;

·      It's incredibly rich in substance, value for money and opportunities for co-learning;

·      I'm honoured to have been given the opportunity to "shepherd" participants from the tourism sector so we can support one another more effectively.

While the course is open to individuals, I am specifically looking to attract several small groups (of up to 5 persons each) from within the same destination (country, region or community) who wish to embark on this learning journey together and share insights and experiences with others.

Would love to get a team from NZ Aotearoa to take part! Perhaps there is something coordinated for closer to home?
