AR5 Results Published

The Department of Energy, Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) have today announced the Allocation Round 5 (AR5) results showing a total of 95 Contracts for Difference (CfDs) have been awarded, with a total of 3.7 GW of capacity.

The results include a large number of solar power and onshore wind, a record number of tidal energy projects and for the first time, geothermal projects have been awarded contracts.

Commenting on today's results, our CEO, Neil McDermott, said: "The renewables sector has faced some tough times during the past year, but despite the challenges, it is encouraging to see that the CfD continues to support diverse, emerging technologies, such as geothermal and the expansion of tidal generation. We are pleased to support the use of these new technologies and we will continue to work with all our generators to achieve the best possible outcome.”

For more detail on how the results of CfD AR5 will affect the CfD portfolio and GB #renewable generation, see our briefing document here.
