Renewables Still Cheapest New Power Option

Year after year, levelized cost of energy (LCOE) calculations stubbornly confirm that renewables are the cheapest option for new power generation. While renewable costs have continued to increase in the past six months — at a slower rate than in 2022 — onshore wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) still displace gas and coal in all regions of the world according to Energy Intelligence's latest LCOE report, including the US where gas is very cheap.
