What's been happening at Bigger Brighter Bolder?

July has been great fun!

We kicked off the month with a bang. George Swift and I hosted two brilliant hybrid Board Meetings for our Success Group Members. All came together to share updates, successes and challenges, skills, resources and knowledge, and to set up the next 6 months.

Members travelled from all over the country to be there and some attended online via the stream.

It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster for most business owners, but despite that the results have been phenomenal! Some truly inspiring and incredible achievements. 😍

George Swift ran an excellent workshop in the afternoon mapping out the whole customer journey, highlighting that lead generation is just one part of the process and there are many other considerations, especially in the current climate.

The most important things are:

  • Show up
  • Keep showing up
  • Bring your best
  • Never give up

This is the BBB way, and these guys have fully committed to that and it shows in the results.

Couldn’t be prouder. 🥰

Then George Swift and I had a brilliant holiday. We had three weeks to relax in the sun and then spend time with our family and friends!

I’m returning to work refreshed and ready to go: we’ve got so much great stuff coming up in the second half of the year.

Make sure you keep your eyes peeled so you don’t miss a thing!

5-Step process to turn your business around

Many business owners are finding things challenging at the moment.

While we can’t ignore all the challenges around us, the biggest factor to turning around your business is you.

You bring the energy, focus, motivation and determination to move everything forward.

1.     Stop focussing on the problem.

What we focus on is what we work towards creating. 95-99% of everything you think, feel and do is unconscious. There is only so much you can do here, and you need to be careful not to cut out the things that can help you grow, so do it quickly and efficiently and then move on. Focussing on costs will not bring in more money. We need to turn our attention to what we want.

2.     Get clarity on the situation.

We often feel like a certain situation is insurmountable. In most cases the problem isn’t as bad as we initially think, once we have clarity. You need to find out what is really happening: what are the numbers, what is the timescale and what actually needs to happen for the problem to be resolved?

3.     Get back to or set your goals.

Creating or getting back to your goals will give you clarity on what you need to focus on, and creating a plan to get there will help you achieve it. What we focus on grows. It’s one of the reasons why goal setting is so powerful.

4.     Rebuild your self-esteem.

Success starts with self-esteem. If self-esteem is low, we may question our ability to run a successful business and imposter syndrome might kick in. It’s important that we regain our sense of self before we go out and see clients as they’ll pick up on our energy and it will affect our ability to sell.

5.     SELL! Selling, closing and bringing in revenue is key.

This is where the majority of your time and energy needs to be focused. Create a checklist of all the places you can go to find your sales. This could include upselling to your existing clients, networking events, referrals, previous clients, etc. Many problems get solved in business with increased cashflow. You can pay bills, bring in help or get advice. Deal with the previous steps to get you in the right headspace for sales.

There are many factors that are out of our control, so it’s important to focus on those we can control.

We’re halfway through the year 😬

Are you on track to achieve what you set out to achieve?

If not, don’t panic. The summer holidays are a quiet period for many business owners. They’re the perfect opportunity to reflect, realign your goals and plan the rest of your year.

Make sure you take the time to get crystal clear on what you want to achieve over the next 6 months.

Levelling Up with George Swift

Being a business owner means there is a constant need to up your game – or level up.

The only thing standing between where you are now and the business and life you’re trying to achieve is a series of problems to be solved.

We know that things are feeling like they’re getting tougher for service-based businesses. I hear it all the time from people I'm having conversations with.

So, we would like to help you level up your business.

George Swift and I will be hosting a FREE mini-series of 30-minute sessions designed to help you move your business forward. We will be tackling the most common problems, blocks and barriers that we see for small, service-based businesses wanting to get to the next level.

These common problems fall into one of three categories:

  • Mindset
  • Model
  • Methodology

George will be hosting the next one on the 15th of August.

This will be a particularly valuable session for you if:

  • You are struggling to get clients closed on your Main, Long-Term/Retainer Product.
  • Or, you feel you couldn’t get clients onto a long-term committed retainer right now.

We'll be sharing one specific shift in strategy that will help you win more clients and retain them as long-term, high-value customers.

Are you playing a game?

It’s important to have the right people in your business. But there is no point in having great staff if they are unsure of their job role and how that contributes to the company.

Staffing can be a tricky issue, especially when you’re running a six-figure business, as you’re being pulled in so many different directions.

George Swift recently ran a workshop for six-figure business owners to help them understand each team member's role.

Whether you’re a sports fan or not, this one is easy to implement. Think in the simplest way possible…

What is the game your business is playing?

  • How are you winning the game? Do you need to score a certain number of goals, or defend a certain number of goals?
  • How are you scoring goals? Is this when you sign up a new client, or sell a programme?
  • How are you defending? How are you retaining or up-selling your current clients?
  • What position are you playing in? If you’re the business owner, are you on the pitch scoring the goals, or are you the coach telling your team how to play?
  • What position is each member of your team playing in? Are they offence or defence?
  • Does everyone know what position they need to be in? Keep your team bought into the game plan, making sure that they are aware of the impact that they’re making.
  • Are you winning the game well? There’s no point playing a complete offence strategy if you’re losing your defensive game.

Team Tip: Happiness tracking from Vanessa Mole

We spend a lot of time at work, that’s why it's so important to monitor team happiness at work.

At BBB we want our team to be as happy as possible as that brings so many benefits for the employee which, in turn, will have a knock-on and positive effect on the business.

So, we have started tracking happiness each week.

To track happiness, we use an app called Friday Pulse.

This allows us to check on the happiness of the team each week, as well as share our successes, frustrations and ideas. This also gives us a reminder to thank our colleagues for their hard work that week.

By prioritising team happiness, we have created a positive work culture which helps us remain motivated and a successful team at BBB.
