Best Business Practices

Best Business Practices

We talked about Lean Thinking and the benefits of Lean we can derive through its proper implementation. Before we move on to a few technical aspects of LEAN, we need to see businesses in their entirety and understand what needs to done irrespective of the type of industry, it's size or any other parameter you can think of. These are Best Business Practices. Seven of them are listed here.

1)     Ensure Continuous Flow Processing

2)     Use the Pull System

3)     Focus on Continuous Improvement and Elimination of Waste

4)     Standardize

5)     Ensure Quality at Source

6)     Respect People

7)     Execute with Total Responsibility as a Team

I am not venturing into a detailed explanation of the above. Each point can be a voluminous chapter in itself and condensing them into a few sentences would do crass injustice to these precious concepts. If you find them intriguing, spend some time reading books on them. Or simpler still, interact with my Mentor, LEAN MURALI and get all your answers. Of course, you will also find me referring to them contextually in some of the future posts.

One of the points listed above uses the word "FLOW". Next week, we will understand the relevance of FLOW in the context of LEAN. Until then, bye and have a great week ahead!
