Best hidden secret in the 2020 NHL® All-Star Weekend

Tyler Bertuzzi (Detroit Red Wings) and Roman Josi (Nashville Predators) recorded 7 points in the 2020 Honda NHL® All-Star Weekend. Neither used hockey tape on the blade of his stick. They both used Rezztek® - a new material that replaces tape and enhances the performance of players.

It was Tyler's first appearance in the all star game and he made the best possible use of it. It took him 13,8 seconds to hit all 5 targets in the accuracy shooting competition. He went 2 for 2 on his breakaways in the Saves Streak Competition. In his first ever all star game, he recorded 4 assists for Team Atlantic, assisting on all three goals of his linemate Anthony Duclair. In the final, he scored his first ever goal as an all star, but unfortunately his team lost to Team Pacific in the end.

Roman Josi is currently enjoying a carreer-best season as the captain of the Nashville Predators. In his third appearance as an NHL all star, he first took part in the Saves Streak Competition, scoring on both of his breakaway attempts. "I kind of knew what I was going to do, but you kind of adjust to the goalie a little bit too," Josi said. "But I only have one move. So that's pretty much my only move. Then, with a laugh: "I shouldn't say that maybe. But yeah, that's my only move, and it worked today." Then he went and recorded a pair of assists in his only game that night as his Team Central lost to Team Pacific.

Little bit of stats incoming: 36 skaters took part in the 2020 Honda NHL® All-Star Weekend and they recorded 99 points in the 3 matches. That is 2,75 points per player. Players with Rezztek® on their blade averaged 3,5 points - an increase of 27%. Combined with a 100% success rate in breakaway attempts (4 out of 4) it was a good weekend for Rezztek® players at the 2020 Honda NHL® All-Star Weekend.

Rezztek® aims to set a new market standard for professional and amateur hockey players. Rezztek®’s patented material for the hockey stick’s blade allows for better puck control, faster and more accurate shots and is fully customizable to players’ needs. The material also creates a new platform for branding and advertising. Rezztek was developed with Boston Bruins captain, Zdeno Chara, who is a user and passionate supporter. Rezztek® has been featured on NBC Boston, won the Gold Award at Mass Challenge and is currently a finalist in consideration for the Stadia Ventures Sports Accelerator in St. Louis.
