Brooke meets with United Nations to tackle antimicrobial resistance

Brooke met with United Nations member states in New York this month, to help address the threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) to global health.  

We attended the UN’s High-Level Meeting on September 26, 2024, to promote an approach to reduce AMR spread using One Health, which encompasses humans, animals and the environment.  

This is part of Brooke's ongoing work to strengthen animal health systems around the world, by improving access to medicines, training vets and lobbying governments.

Sir Peter O’Sullevan Trust sponsors new equine education scholarship for Brooke vets

Brooke vets were awarded a prestigious equine welfare scholarship, thanks to funding from a Trust which has donated over £10 million to charitable causes.  

Dr Javaid Khan, Animal Healthcare Manager at Brooke Pakistan and Dr Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Programme Lead for Animal Health and Welfare at Brooke India, have been selected for the Sir Peter O’ Sullevan Equine Education Scholarship. 

The scholarship, sponsored by the Sir Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust, is part of Brooke’s commitment to improving health and welfare services for horses, donkeys and mules worldwide, by giving vets opportunities to enhance their skills.

The Yorkshire Vet star Julian Norton and Ted Lasso actor Annette Badland showed their support for Brooke, in Leeds this September!  

Julian and Annette gave a talk hosted by Brooke on 19 September, 2024, at the Royal Armouries Museum, to thank the charity’s supporters and mark its 90th anniversary.  

Interviewed by Annette, Julian discussed his long-standing relationship with Brooke and his love for animals, which inspired him to pursue a veterinary career.

The day was a huge success, and is one of many events this year marking Brooke's 90th anniversary, sponsored by the Sir Peter O'Sullevan Charitable Trust.
