The busier you are, the more you need to plan

The less time you have, then the more we have to plan and strategise what you’re going to do with that time. It is completely logical however it goes against your natural responses.

The truth of the matter is there is way more that you should be doing, or could be doing, in your day than you can actually achieve. You’ve only got a certain number of hours, there’s only so much you can achieve today.

Today we are talking planning and specifically I am talking to you the very busy entrepreneur. The reason I’m talking to you the busy entrepreneur is I know what you’re already thinking ‘I don’t have time to plan’. Well guess what a plan is a fundamental part of your strategy for achieving your goals.

If you want to have any sort of power in this world you need to have a really powerful agenda. The first part of having a really powerful agenda is knowing what it is that you want, setting those goals, casting them in stone and then committing to their achievement 100%. The second part however is to have a plan, a strategy, of how you’re going to achieve them. In other words how are you going to get from where you are now to where you want to be in the future. How are you going to take your business from where it is now to where you want it to be in the future.

Gandhi had a great saying which was ‘if we have twice as much work to do, we’d better meditate for twice as long’. I have turned around slightly ‘today I have twice as much to do, therefore I must plan for twice as long’. I want this to be a new philosophy for you. I want you to change that whole perception that ‘I don’t have time to plan’, into a really simple thing that if I haven’t got time to plan I must plan.

The less time you have, then the more we have to plan and strategise what you’re going to do with that time. It is completely logical however it goes against your natural responses in your head, which is I don’t have time to do anything else other than all of this and what I need to do is this big list in chaos. The truth of the matter is there is way more that you should be doing, or could be doing, in your day than you can actually achieve. You’ve only got a certain number of hours, there’s only so much you can achieve today.

So what I want you to do is to really take on this philosophy to utilise every one of those hours as well as you possibly can and that starts by having a really good day plan. Then you have a week plan a month plan and eventually a quarter plan even a year plan. I want this to be a new philosophy for you, specifically the busy busy entrepreneur that thinks they don’t have time to plan. If you haven’t got time to plan you must plan. Today I have twice as much to do therefore I must spend twice as long planning.

Make this a new philosophy for you and I promise it will start to revolutionise how you organise your days. It will lower your stress levels massively. If you haven’t got time to plan you absolutely categorically must plan. Make that a new philosophy for you.

Until next time, be successful.
