Car Sales Personnel At Risk
This post is for dealership sales personnel.
The link to the article below from F&I magazine written by Terry O'Loughlin of Reynolds & Reynolds puts car sales personnel on notice they should be careful what dealerships they are working for.
In recent court cases sales personnel at various dealerships have been sucked into various legal and regulatory situations along with the dealerships they work for.
There are a number of obvious bad behaviors that sales people should be wary of but maybe some not so obvious.
A recent dealership had one of their sales people caught taking a picture of a drivers license and selling it on the dark web. That not only implicated the store but ALL the sales people as well.
Other stores are not properly vetting the identity or insurance of prospects they are contracting with. Many are careless about how sensitive documents are handled. Others have sales practices of letting people leave with a vehicle not worrying if they are who they say they are and if they really are insured. This can all tie back to the sales representative being a part of this practice and thus being liable.
Even if innocent, having to pay for legal representation can be pricey.
Gather handles many of these scenarios that put a dealership sales person at risk. There are other systems that help with this as well. Just be cognizant of what the dealership processes are and if you might be at risk because of them. You are not immune.
