Cholera situation in Sudan

Cholera situation in Sudan

New analysis on drivers, impacts & challenges

The cholera outbreak in Sudan is occurring amid war and a worsening humanitarian crisis. Between August and mid-December 2024, over 47,300 cases had been reported in 11 of Sudan's 18 states, with approximately 1,200 casualties. IDPs in overcrowded displacement sites with limited access to water, sanitation, and healthcare are at particularly high risk. The healthcare system is critically under resourced, with over 80% of health facilities non-operational as a result of the war.
