Cleat Issues on a Conveyor Belt

A local concrete plant was continually having problems with their conveyor belts, especially at the cleats. Since they needed to be back in service very quickly, they opted for a system that can be back in service the same day the repair is completed.

We started by chopping off the damaged cleat portion.

The USI Solution

We started by chopping off the damaged cleat portion.

A mixture of RES808 High Strength Reinforcement Mesh Tape and RES401 GP 60 Putty was used to patch the hole. To keep the cleats moving freely over the rollers, we covered them with a wide piece of cellophane tape.

The entire cleat piece was then covered with more RES401 GP 60 Putty.

After the Saturday AM repair, the belt was able to operate again with sand covering it later that day.
