A Consistent Life is the desired outcome.

A Consistent Life is the desired outcome.

Going to the gym once for 2-hours

Brushing your teeth once for two minutes…

Washing your face once for 5 minutes

All of these one-offs are meaningless by themselves. Why?

A single action done once will not produce the results or outcome that you want.

Small actions taken over time will lead you to the desired results.

And if not, it was not meant to be and stewing will only blind you from seeing the thousands of other opportunities.

Stay curious.

We’re talking about consistency today.

Why?

Consistent action will always get you the desired result, no matter the short-term disappointments, problems, and delays.

You must be consistent to be healthy, have rich relationships, and be productive.

What motivates us to be consistent?

Belief.

That's what I found out the hard way.

When I didn't believe in myself, I knew that my biggest opportunity was consistency.

It sucked.

I called it out, committed, and went all the fucking way in.

If you believe that what you’re doing is the right course of action, you’ll stick with it.

You'll stop as soon as you let doubt, fear, and insecurity in.

You won’t work towards the goals you want.

Goals aren’t so much about writing something down, having a number to chase, or an outcome to work towards.

Goals symbolize what you believe you can achieve if you take daily action toward it.

Consistent Action Leads to Desired Outcomes every single time.

Have you been in love? Was there a moment where, all of a sudden, you just knew?

Yup, of course, you have.

Disney showcases this as love at first sight.

It makes love a big momentous occasion.

But that’s a fairy tale.

Love isn’t one singular moment in time. It’s a bunch of little actions taken over time.

If your goal is to fall in love, then how do you do it?

Think of it like this: do you love someone when you go out on big, expensive vacations?

You like the expensive vacation, and you may even enjoy the person's company.

But does that inspire a deep love that motivates you to serve and be selfless for the other person?

No.

Love is something that happens over time.

It occurs when your significant other continuously opens the door for you, even if they don’t have to.

It’s when your partner fills your car with gas whenever it’s on empty, not because you can’t, but because they don’t want you to worry about it.

It’s sitting down and talking with them every night about their day.

It’s about refraining from showboating how fantastic your day was when theirs was awful.

Then, when this compounds over time, guess what?

Your partner will recognize that they’re in love with you. I can’t tell you when this will happen, but it will happen because your partner chooses to believe in showing you love daily.

Consistency is about belief.

Repeated, dedicated, and focused action will achieve goals in time. I can’t tell you when. We are all obsessed with this idea of timing.

For instance, if you go to the gym for three weeks and look at yourself in the mirror every day, you’ll think your efforts aren’t worth it and quit. You’ve put a timeline on your efforts.

You didn’t believe that your efforts were worthwhile.

But if you went every day and didn’t worry about the time, you’d find that you’d look `and feel pretty dang good in time. I don’t know when that will happen. You don’t either.

However, consistency is believing that your efforts have meaning when exposed to time.

What happens when we don’t believe our actions matter?

Let’s say you’re still a driven person, for argument's sake. You like money. Sure, I like money, too.

But here’s what happens when I focus on money.

I hyper-focus on my tasks. I’m “all-in” for a short burst of time.

Then, I get money.

What happens next?

I stop caring. I stop working hard. I stop being consistent.

What happens next?

I need money. I start working. I make money.

It’s fucking exhausting. It’s not a life full of contentment and joy. It’s a life full of resentment and blame.

When I take a step back and recognize that money is a tool that will come in time, my shoulders relax and my jawbone eases a bit.

It’s part of being an entrepreneur.

But they’re not the norm.

The norm is a day built around caring for myself, my kids, my partner, and my company.

Doing that gets me everything I want.  Truthfully.

Believe your actions matter, and you’ll find motivation to do the work even when it’s hard.

Don’t believe it; you’ll struggle with motivation all day and those around you will suffer from loose commits and less and less reason to be trusted.

Does Consistency Work?

Hell yeah, it does. You know it. I know it. We all kinda suck at it. But here’s a real-life example that motivates me to keep trying.

Real Life Example

A while ago, I didn’t like how I looked or felt. I was not in shape and was gaining weight. It was not fun. I’m not vain, either. Well, maybe a little bit. But we all are to a degree.

Anyway, I wanted to work out.

But lifting weights wasn’t doing it for me.

So I started walking. The first few times I went on a walk, it was amazing. But it didn’t do much other than help my oxygen flow, which cleared my thoughts.

I kept doing it. The clear head alone was worth the hour or so of walking.

Then, after five months of walking every day, I felt better.

To my surprise, I lost 76 pounds.

I walked a lot. Like, a lot.

This isn’t an exercise course.

I’m not going to sell you my routine.

But consistency worked.

I stopped worrying about the outcome.

believed that walking was good for me.

Then, over time, it was!

That’s the power of consistency.

You do something because you believe it to be good, no matter the short-term outcomes.

If you want something, stop worrying about when you’ll get it.

Start working towards it day by day.

If you keep working for it, you’ll get it.  I don’t know when, nor do you, but you’ll get it.

I've been writing this newsletter with my team every week now for 68 weeks, and we will do it for another 68, then another 68, etc. etc.

Over time, we will consistently build to become the biggest worldwide brand in digital brand reputation management.

Over time, we will work with some of the biggest Entrepreneurs in the world as clients.

In time, we will share the stage with those people and we will continue to deliver messages, consistently over time.

It will all happen, with time:)

Enjoy your time today. No call to action. I have everything I could possibly ever want.
