Could you add a little more WOW to your patient’s journey?

I recently met with a colleague who is breaking out on his own. One of the motivations behind this, was that he couldn’t persuade his clinical business partner to deliver the same high level patient journey care that he was.

Being an excellent clinician in private practice is more than being nifty with your hands, a wiz with an arthroscope, or the world’s leading expert on walking corpse syndrome. It’s fair to say that the patient’s experience of how the care is being delivered, matters just as much.

Don’t believe it?

Think of the last time you were kept waiting for Southern train, a complicated goods exchange in a shop, or being seated and hour late for that afternoon Fortnum and Mason’s tea, you had booked six months in advance.

Its flippin’ annoying isn’t it?

I honestly believe that many bad patient experiences occur because there are poor systems put in place.

The flip side of this, is, it’s easy to recover. It really pays to spend half an afternoon to think this through.
