Covid Hairstyles
I had to steel myself for something I'd hoped to avoid this morning - but it happened and it was ok.
I had to ask my husband to dye my hair and cut it.
Strange new hairstyles are appearing on familiar faces when I see them on camera, and I'm afraid I just can't do it. I can't let myself go....!
I have always loved it when my hairdresser does my hair, a chance to relax and chat, and feel a million dollars once it's done. Kudos, she never fails me. She's an expert!
Well, with the lockdown and social distancing, I reckon it will be a while before she can come around and do it for me or anyone else, even in the back garden. So I plumped for getting it done now, before the lines of what was cut before disappear. For, as he pointed out to me, he isn't a hairdresser. I think he almost asked me to sign a disclaimer! I assured him it would be ok, however it turned out and that we would learn from it and improve.
Well, judge for yourself. I'm happy. It's not the colour we intended, it's a silver grey colour not my normal light blonde. I've been able to turn the bottom under, and if I want I can curl it. My fringe is no longer in my eyes.
Don't misunderstand, it's not vanity. It's me attempting to keep up my standards, look professional and it makes me FEEL professional. So, if you're working from home and the days are sliding into each other, make an effort and you won't regret it. You may have more time on your hands so why not use it? Why not use the time you used to commute to the office, or factory, and keep your brain ticking over? Learn something new. Stretch yourself.
You won't be sorry!
What are you going to learn next week that you didn't know before? My husband is proud of his new competence, and although I'm sure when things are 'back to normal' he'll willingly give way to my beloved hairdresser, he's added it to the list of things he never thought he'd have to do.
And me? I've learnt to take a chance, things that used to matter don't matter that much now, it doesn't have to be perfect; Now I'm off to record another helpful 'how to' video to show another skill I think people may find useful.
