Next Stop 2021

December Growth By 1,087% To Reach 251 +Followers. 5 Months And 200 Post To Reach Over 80K Views.

Twice a day I am on the train with people I do not know. Very defined time box of 30 minutes, completely sealed from the rest of my life by the gates of two trains stations. My challenge is to think of an idea, take a picture, write the headline and text, design the cover and publish an interesting post… while I am on the train.

You know me, everything must be branded, so “THE DAILY TRAINER” Is born.

I like to share with you "2019 last few days of drama." As you remember, December started with a goal to grow The-Daily-Trainer + followers number from 25 to 50. This goal has been achieved in five days. A week later, a new goal was set for 100 +Followers by year-end. A week later I had 140 Followers. So a new and very challenging Goal was set for the last two weeks left... to reach 250 followers by December 31st at midnight.

And like having this challenging goal is not difficult enough, everyone was disconnecting from LinkedIn going on a Christmas or a Hanuka vacation. All traffic to my personal account with over 10K connections dropped by over 60%. Posts reach, and engagement has been falling as well. I just know there is no way to reach my very challenging goal now.

I am not a quitter, And once I have a goal, I am devoted to achieving it. I also have this work methodology of setting unreasonable goals (to a reasonable degree), regularly pushing myself to over achievements. So what if the original intent was reaching 50 +Followers, and I am already way ahead of it... I head to achieve my 250 +Followers.

This is the point in time I have started being more active about getting Followers. Every new contact I approved in the last two weeks of December was also receiving a personal welcome reply inviting them to join the ride. And it worked like magic.

Getting to Christmas, this channel has been dring out, leaving me with very little time left and still 40 followers short.

So I have harnessed the holiday spirit to the Train. I went over the list of my contacts, choosing a selected number of you guys and sending you a personal holiday greeting, with an invitation to join the ride. It worked wonderfully. This is the time to thank you guys for the support and the holiday spirit you have shared with me.

December 31st. I am only a few followers short. So I posted the following post on my private Linkedin and Facebook accounts:

"I Need You To Be The First To Cross The Goal Line Earlier this year I have set a goal for The-Daily-Trainer; to reach 250 +Followers by the end of the year. With only a few hours left, I am only 1 Follower away from reaching this goal. Click the link http://lnkd.in/gPiZEwn. Then click +Follow. Thank you for your support Happy New Year."

One by one, new followers have joined the ride. And then at about 15:00 Israel time, it stopped on 249 followers. For the next few hours, no one has joined. As time was running out, I was ready to face my destiny, miss the goal by one person.

19:00, as Anat Shalom Yoran (my wife) and I are about to leave the house and go to a New Year Party, she looks at me and says, "What's wrong, I can see something is disturbing you." I share with her the above story. And she goes... "Hmmm... Let me help you." Next thing, she opens her Linkedin app and becomes the game-changer, the 250 +Follower.

Now, please don't ask me why she was not a follower until this point. But what I have learned from that experience is that when we are looking for new audiences, we tend to focus our efforts on farther and farther circles, investing a great deal of effort into converting people how don't know us. At the same time, we are neglecting the most inner circles, the ones that are most engaging and genuinely care about us, and our success.

So here is the story and its insight:

❶ The only way to achieve an unreasonable goal (to a reasonable degree) is hard work, and it worth it.

❷ Don't neglect your inner circles.

❸ Talk with your spouse, they love you.

Have a great year, and may your 2019 dreams be your 2020 success stories.

The train route has not changed. It is the same one that I take every day to work and back. However, today is special, as I am with my daughter Netta, making the ride just for the fun of it. I don't know if you can see it in the picture, but I'm so proud of her and love her with all my heart.

What are the business insights of this post?

There are three.

⓵ Even the most repetitive daily routine can become "sparkly and glamour with a cherry on top" doing it with people you truly love.

⓶ Sometimes you can not change the routine. However, it is in your hand to refresh its title every now and then.

⓷ Family comes first.

They are working on the TLV metro forever, and they will work on it forever more. And one day we will have a TLV metro. Don't worry, the sign is already here.

At work and in relationships, What kind of signs are you posting that advertise your intentions as they were achievements?

I bet there is a formula to show the speed we are moving, just by calculating the angle of the water on the window.

At work, can you figure data and info you need just by looking at the behavior of other things; people, reports. Business intelligence is all about it.
