9 Sprint-Posts You Need To Reed About Scaling From Local To Global. (Special Edition - Greece.)

Twice a day I am on the train with people I do not know. Very defined time box of 30 minutes, completely sealed from the rest of my life by the gates of two trains stations. My challenge is to think of an idea, take a picture, write the headline and text, design the cover and publish an interesting post… while I am on the train.

You know me, everything must be branded, so “THE-DAILY-TRAINER” is born.

Most of this week's posts are from the metro of Athens, Greece. This is the third country to host The-Daily-Trainer after Israel, my home country, and Poland. What made this week so special is Athens. Writing and posting my thoughts, my "Philosophy" from the city of Aristotle, Plato, Socrates, is a very humbling experience. Never the less it is a very empowering one. I am sure I will do it again in the near future, in scale.

Scaling The-Daily-Trainer from "local experience" to a global one is a challenging goal, very demanding both in terms of budget and time. It demands much more resources and planning, but at the same time, it is much more exciting. It breaks the daily routine The-Daily-Trainer is dealing with in the first place. So Yes, in a way it is a different product altogether. This is why I have tagged it "SPECIAL EDITION."

I have enjoyed this week in Athens very much. It is a great city. Every part of it is different. The Greek people are warm and friendly, and the food is fresh and tasteful.

This Year I will try to add some global experiences to The-Daily-Trainer. Please advise, which city should I visit next?

How do you distinguish between good advice and a bad one? By default, the advice is given with the best intention. The thing is that they are deeply rooted in the history and set of abilities of the person giving the advice. As a matter of fact, all advice has very little to do with you, and much with the giver.

I am not saying don't listen, don't get and don't receive advice, they are valuable and might save you and help you avoid repeating the mistakes of others. They might be shortcuts, and some of them might save you and make the difference between your success and failure.

I am only advising you to handpick the advice you are embracing and respect everyone giving you his time and pice of advice.

At work, do you find advice as a blessing or as interference with your way of doing things?

I don't know if he talks with his wife, his boss, a customer, or maybe a good friend, all I know is that he has his kids with him, so in a way, he is already home.

How about you, are you working late again? Do you think the project you are working on or the overtime you put are more fulfilling then five minutes with your spouse and kids? Do you believe your boss is appreciating your time more than your family?

Never try to balance between work and family, your family should always win.

You know how it is, when you desperately need something, the first choice you have, always looks shiny. Like this beverage machine, now when I am so thirsty.

At work and in your project, making choices at your moment of need might grow into a bigger problem. When you must have one, Every programmer is fantastic. Every designer is talented. Every copywriter is sharp. It is the heartburn you get later on that is the problem.

Heading far is an adventure. It is exciting as new and unexpected challenges will meet us. Heading far is the time to be surrounded by the people you know best and trust the most. Like in this picture, from #Piraeus’s train station, together with Meir Sade and Michal Sade, that joined Anat Shalom Yoran and me on our 24th anniversary to #Athens #Greece.

Thank you guys for joining, it is a pleasure to celebrate together.

At work, going into new projects, you must be heading further than ever before. Do you have your team with you, or do you start fresh over and over again? Do you see the advantages and disadvantages of each way?

I am here in #Athens for a few days, and today’s plans were changed due to Athens's transportation, public services 24-hours strike. One look at the empty train station says it all.

At work and in your projects, are you ready for a “Strike”? Are you ready for some unknown challenges that will come your way? Is your daily planning flexible enough so you can make the last-minute changes? Are you agile enough to apply the needed changes to your work?

By the way, the Taxi services in Athens are great, I highly recommend the #beat ride app.

Character emerges at the friction of people and the environment. The environment might be natural, like terrain or weather conditions. Also, it can be the culture surrounding us. Thanks to millennials of continuously evolving culture forged with millions of local and tourist people, #Athens #Monastiraki Metro station is unique and full of character.

What is the character of the project you are working on? Can you define it? Are the people working on it are character builders, and does that character is appealing to the customers?

Every ride starts and ends at the platform. Every project you will ever do needs a reliable platform as a start and must grow into one, to support future projects. Any relationship you will ever be involved with is a platform. You and your spouse (or coworkers) are simultaneously each other's platforms to success.

A good platform is:

▪️ Functional and Well designed

▪️ Simple to use

▪️Always available and accessible

▪️Reliable

▪️Clean and well maintained

The model in the image is representing an existing train station. However, models are a powerful tool in the planning of a product or a project.

Whether as a reduced scale of what you are planing or as a full-scale virtual reality environment, models save time and money. They show the strength & weaknesses of any plan and design. You don't need to imagine or guess. One look in the model, and it is all out there for everyone to see, understand and make the necessary changes.

Are you using "models" to test your business & marketing campaigns before you scale? We all know that volume has an impact on the "physics" of the campaign, how are you adding that into the model?

Whatever you are doing, be there 100%. Own it.

At work, and in projects that you are running, are you there 100%? Are you the front of your actions, or is there someone else getting the credit for your talent and hard work? Do strangers recognize you, and identify you with your work?
