Defining Impossible

Defining Impossible

I often hear people say, “That’s impossible.” “We can’t do what they are suggesting.” “Our board would never go for it!” “They will never spend that much money… closing them will be impossible.” “I don’t have the experience…. that would be impossible.” I hear it all the time.

We need to overcome the belief that things are impossible. We need to strive for the possible. Someone noted to me that “impossible” is really “I’m possible.” I like that!

So long as we have negative thoughts, we won’t close that deal, or get that meeting or promotion. We need to think positively. We also need to understand the term “impossible” in order to overcome it. No one has explained it better than Mohammed Ali.

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible isn’t a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.

The next time you are told something is impossible, or you think it is, remember what Mohammad Ali said. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible isn’t a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.

Overcome the impossible today!
