That annoying voice that says you don't comply
Do you make yourself small and talk negatively to yourself? – this is pobably the pesky inner critic that we all deal with at some point in our lives. You know, that little voice inside your head that loves to fill you with self-doubt and fear? Yeah, we've all been there!
But you can do something about it, I learned this in a Playing big facilitator training from Tara Mohr and want to share some fantastic insights. Tara's wisdom is all about empowering us to embrace self-compassion and quiet that inner critic once and for all.
1. Shower Yourself with Self-Compassion
Let's start with the power of self-compassion. Instead of beating ourselves up for having doubts and fears, Tara encourages us to approach ourselves with kindness. We're only human, after all! By acknowledging that everyone faces these struggles, we can begin to release the burden of feeling alone in our battles.
2. Fear or Intuition? Listen Closely!
Ever wondered if that little voice is just your fear talking or if it's your intuition guiding you? I've certainly been there! According to Tara, it's essential to recognize the difference. Fear often keeps us small and prevents us from taking risks, while intuition leads us towards our genuine desires and passions. Learning to distinguish between these two can help us make braver decisions.
3. Embrace Imperfection – It's Beautiful!
Perfectionism and the inner critic often go hand in hand, am I right? But Tara's got a game-changer for us: embrace imperfection! It's okay not to have it all together – none of us do! Instead of fearing failure, we can view it as an opportunity for growth and learning. After all, life is a beautiful mess, and that's what makes it unique.

4. Challenge Those Limiting Beliefs!
We all have those sneaky limiting beliefs that hold us back. You know, those thoughts that say, "You're not good enough" or "You can't do it." Tara encourages us to question those beliefs and challenge their validity. Often, they stem from old patterns or experiences that no longer serve us. By challenging them, we can rewrite our narratives with more empowering beliefs.
5. Seek Supportive Communities
You know what they say: "We're stronger together!" And it's true. Surrounding ourselves with supportive communities can work wonders in combating the inner critic. When we have a safe space to share our struggles and dreams without judgment, we gain the courage to face our fears head-on.
Our journey of silencing the inner critic is ongoing, but oh-so-worthwhile! Remember to be gentle with yourself and approach each step with self-compassion.
By learning to recognize fear from intuition, embracing imperfection, challenging limiting beliefs, and finding support, we empower ourselves to play big and embrace all that life has to offer.
So, let's go out there and show that inner critic who's boss! We've got this, one step at a time.
