Why Aren't People Applying?

Why Aren't People Applying?

Are you noticing that your job boards on LinkedIn, Indeed, Monster, or whatever random site you're posting on aren't bringing in the types of candidates they once were?

Candidates are tired of applying to basic job descriptions and either getting no response or getting the bait and switch. The name of the company doesn’t hold as much weight as it once used to. It's now about the reputation, word of mouth, and the vibe they feel when they go to interview. The direction is moving more towards connections, networking and trust, which personally I like and very much relate to.

Social media is wonderful, but it's become a crutch. There is so much information out there that it's nearly impossible to decipher how one thing is truly different than the other. Social media can never replace engaging with people. We have forgotten that the work place is still a relationship driven environment and we can't attract good employees without the emotional connection.

I wholeheartedly think this behavior will start creating (or forcing) more transparency and also decrease turnover rates.

People WANT to know what they are getting into.

Late to the game but adding to what Crystal said. I had so many emails coming in after signing up to a few job boards, it was almost impossible to keep track of or sort. Then you start getting the ones you did not even sign up for and if you let it, reviewing email can almost become a full time job.

Well written with core facts. The driven point, “we the people” do want to be reassured about company that offers employment opportunity. I just like to say, there are scammers out there! It took me some time and research to find “legit” work @ home employment. So many opportunities when you search social media and job board sites. It is a job in itself to seek employment today and to finally get a “face to face” interview.
