Elscint exports vibratory bowl feeders to South Africa

Elscint recently manufactured and exported four completely tooled bowl feeders to South Africa. They comprised of two sets, each set consisting a Model 400 bowl feeder for feeding of plastic clip and a Model 160 for feeding of a star washer. The orientation of the clip was “head up” while that of the star washer was “flange up”. A pneumatic escapement / singulator was required for both the bowl feeders so that a single part is released at a time, on receipt of signal from the customer. The head of the plastic clip was dome shaped, which made it susceptible to overlapping. Similarly, in case of the star washer, the sheet metal size was only 0.3 mm in thickness, which made the orientation difficult plus there was a high chance of overlapping of the same. In both these cases, Elscint ensured that the parts were fed without any stoppage or jamming. A cast aluimium bowl with Elsicnthane PU coating was used for feeding of the plastic clip while a cylindrical bowl with a small outer track with a return pan was used for the star washer.

As the star washer was very thin, to ensure proper feeding, a linear track of 600 mm with Elscint I Linear Vibrator with proper inclination was used. This ensured that the parts slide easily on the track. Festo make pneumatics were used while the electrical parts were Elscint standard.
