As June arrives, we are stepping into the vibrant season of summer. I love summer, as many people do because it brings unique opportunities for our health. Longer days and sunshine mean more chances to soak up vitamin D, a crucial nutrient for maintaining strong bones, supporting immune function, and enhancing mood. So my biggest piece of advice to you is to get out in the sun wherever you can (with your sunscreen of course) and get your vitamin D! For example, here's a picture of me and my little one enjoying an al-fresco lunch.

Your body’s cells produce these proteins when you are exposed to stress, in this case, changes in temperature. Low temperatures are a specific type and very common type of stressor. Cold shock proteins or CSPs are released in response to cold. This article will concentrate on cold shock proteins, but your body also produces shock proteins when it experiences heat.

Cold shock proteins help your body cells adapt to and survive stressful conditions, in this case cold temperatures. Effectively, they help to protect cells from the damage caused by the stress.
