Empowering the Mind and Body: Chakra Cleansing Meditation for Mental Health. Naresh Chand, Ph.D., Courtesy of www.mywellnessdevices.com

Happy International Meditation Day!

Salutation to my Yoga Guru- Dr. Rajan C Narayanan, our most outstanding yoga scientist.

Dr. Naresh Chand is an 80-year-old retired neuroscientist dedicated to improving and empowering the lives of individuals with mental health challenges in the USA and around the world.

Dr. Chand firmly believes that yogic practices—such as Chakra Cleansing Meditation, Ayurvedic cooking with plant-based foods, herbs, spices, and proper hydration—are vital for healing the mind, body, and spirit.

Introduction

In our modern world, millions face mental health challenges such as stress, emotional trauma, anxiety, depression, brain fog, PTSD, cognitive decline, and more. Dr. Naresh Chand, an 80-year-old retired neuroscientist deeply concerned about this rising crisis, has discovered a powerful tool combining ancient wisdom with modern science: Chakra Cleansing Meditation.

Dr. Chand was fortunate to learn this transformative brain-healing practice through Life in Yoga (Yoga Concepts: Global Application, Chapter 26). He provides a holistic approach to managing and enhancing emotional and mental well-being, especially for individuals facing challenges like post-Long Covid syndrome, chronic neurological disorders, domestic violence, gun violence, and everyday conflicts often overlooked by modern medicine.

The Science of Chakra Cleansing Meditation

Chakra cleansing meditation is rooted in the ancient tantric yogic tradition and has been refined at Life in Yoga for many decades. It balances the body’s seven energy centers, known as chakras, which influence emotional, mental, and physical well-being. Misaligned or blocked chakras can lead to disturbances often associated with mental health issues.

Chakras: Locations and Impact on Mental Health

1.    Root (Muladhara) Chakra

o   Location: Perineum

o   Element: Earth

o   Vibration: LAM

o   Mudra: Gently press the pinky finger against the thumb.

Benefits: Supports grounding, fosters a sense of safety, reduces anxiety, and boosts resilience.

2.    Sacral (Svadisthana) Chakra

o   Location: Between the pubis and sacral bones

o   Element: Water

o   Vibration: VAM

o   Mudra: Gently press the ring finger with the thumb.

Benefits: Regulates creativity and emotional balance, essential for overcoming depression and trauma.

3.    Navel/Solar Plexus (Manipura) Chakra

o   Location: Between the navel and spine

o   Element: Fire

o   Vibration: RAM

o   Mudra: Lightly press the middle finger against the thumb.

Benefits: Enhances self-esteem, mental clarity, cognitive function, and focus.

4.    Heart (Anahata) Chakra

o   Location: Center of the chest

o   Element: Air

o   Vibration: YAM

o   Mudra: Gently press the index finger against the thumb.

Benefits: Promotes emotional healing, essential for grief, heartbreak, and social anxiety.

5.    Throat (Vishuddha) Chakra

o   Location: Throat area

o   Element: Space

o   Vibration: HAM

o   Mudra: Loose fist with thumb pointing upward.

Benefits: Enhances communication and self-expression and addresses emotional trauma.

6.    Third Eye (Ajnya) Chakra

o   Location: Center of the brain, behind the third eye

o   Vibration: KSAM

o   Mudra: Loose fist with thumb pointing upward.

Benefits: Enhances intuition and focus, reduces brain fog, and improves mental clarity.

7.    Crown (Sahasrara) Chakra

o   Location: Above the head

o   Vibration: OM

o   Mudra: Loose fist with thumb pointing upward.

Benefits: Enhances spiritual connection and wisdom, promoting emotional resilience during crises.

Practice Tip: Practice Tip: Chant each Beej mantra vibration (LAM, VAM, RAM, YAM, HAM, KSAM, OM) out loud for 1 to 3 minutes in ascending order.

Modify the duration of each vibration to address specific mental health challenges.

The best times for chakra cleansing meditation are in the morning and before bedtime. Some people may tear or yawn, which indicates that their chakras are being cleansed and that it is time to sleep.

The vibrations resonance (KSAM, OM) and the mudra are released during the last 2-3 vibrations or are not used.

Benefits for Mental Health

Recent observations by Dr. Chand highlight the following benefits of Chakra Cleansing Meditation:

·       Long Covid Symptoms: Reduces brain fog, temporal lobe pressure, migraines, and cognitive decline.

·       Stress and Anxiety: Balances Root and Heart chakras to ground emotional turmoil, enhance mood, and reduce stress.

·       PTSD and Depression: Sacral and Solar Plexus chakras help release trapped emotional trauma.

·       Conflict Resolution: Encourages compassion and emotional intelligence, aiding in the resolution of personal and societal conflicts.

·       Women in Conflict: Chanting LAM and VAM for 3-10 minutes is incredibly effective (Dr. R.C. Narayanan, personal communication).

Dr. Chand emphasizes the importance of mantra chanting, deep breathing, visualization, and mudras (subtle finger gestures) for revitalizing energy and balancing chakras. Engaging in daily practice for 7 to 21 minutes or more can enhance emotional and mental healing and support conflict resolution.

Conclusion

Chakra Cleansing Meditation addresses mental and emotional health, providing a path to healing and resilience. Dr. Chand’s recent findings demonstrate the transformative power of blending ancient practices with modern science, assisting individuals and communities in overcoming mental health challenges with grace and clarity.
