I believe every end of an end starts a new beginning.
Reaching the last month of the year, I enjoy having a reflection on the whole year. I reflect on many things: my work progress, my passions, my dedication, my decisions, my emotions, and my thinking habits. It's always fascinating to observe the way I evolved through another year of my life. I do this intentionally. I want to break the patterns that do not serve me but rather make me suffer with low energy or bad mood, which often leads to more negative thoughts.
Bottom line, before heading to a new year, it's my ritual to reflect on last year, so that I can create spaces within me for the new time, for making new decisions, for feeling new emotions and for adopting new thinking habits. It is important for me because:
- Old thinking patterns trigger our old thoughts or old memories, which does not allow us to renew our mental state to explore new ways of experiencing excitement.
- Depending on the same decision we made last year, or the year before does not empower us to set new goals and take new actions.
- Without our emotional reassessment and adaptability to new emotions, it's hard to navigate the transition with a smooth feeling.
- Moreover, without cultivating new conscious habits, it's impossible to captivate a new beginning (or beginning of the next level) of our business.
Here, I may suggest focusing on three angels when we are mentally, emotionally and logically open for a new beginning:
- Start Making New Decisions: Daily Reflection: Dedicate time for introspection, assessing choices, and setting clear intentions.Goal Setting: Define achievable goals, breaking them into smaller steps for manageable progress.Embrace Change: Cultivate a mindset open to change, fostering adaptability and growth. For example, you can start making small decisions each day to do something differently. It can be as simple as talking to someone you don't know. Asking questions, showing interest to others and listening to them. Or deciding to reach out to someone whom you forgot to contact for a while. You just need to start taking a small action, don't let your overthinking mind come in between, just do it from the heart, not from the logical mind.
- Start Feeling New Emotions: Gratitude Practice: Daily gratitude journaling to foster positivity and a sense of abundance.Mindfulness Meditation: Practice mindfulness to acknowledge and manage emotions effectively.Seek Connection: Engage in conversations and activities that evoke positive emotions and connections. For example, in my last blog, I wrote - "If it does not matter in 5 years, don’t spend more than 5 minutes upset by it or by investing in it and count 5 to get back to your original attention." Here I want to encourage you to focus on the energy and emotion that we want to captivate without being in the loop of the same pattern of emotion which will only burn your energy by thinking of the same thoughts and feeling the same feelings without letting you explore the possibilities to feel new emotions. Instead of listening to songs that go with your same feeling patterns, take the help of listening to good songs; it could be a good start to feeling good.
- Start Building New Habits: Routine Adjustment: Gradually incorporate new habits into daily routines for better integration.Accountability Partnerships: Pair up with a friend or mentor to hold each other accountable.Celebrate Progress: Acknowledge and celebrate small wins to reinforce new habits effectively. The example I wanna share here is the same as the first one, and keep doing it, don't just do it once for the sake of doing something new. If you want to build a new habit, it is about the effort. The more the effort, the more it will be natural to you. Gradually, you will become an evolved version, not the older version anymore. Remember, doing something different once is easy; listening to a good song and feeling different emotions is easy, but sustaining them is hard. And without consistency, we are just a situational version, not an evolved version that is ready for a new beginning.
I hope these tips will help. Don't just stick in the same loop of thinking, feeling and doing, start making different decisions, start feeling different emotions, and take little actions to build different habits every day. If your mind already knows what you gonna do differently, take action, now. Don't wait another day, week or year to pass you by!
You don't know what excitement is waiting for you on the other side, don't let your assumption take it over. Act wise, act fast, act with love.
