EMA Sponsor

A night out in the Big Smoke this week, as EI was a proud sponsor at the Engineering & Manufacturing Awards !

🎙️Episode 12 - "I'm a 70's kid."

30 years in industry, an obsession to learn and a long list of funny stories.

It took Mark Staples MIET a minute to remember I'm a 90's kid, not 70's like him! 😂

Huge thank you to our sponsor Beckhoff Automation UK Ltd To find out what they do you can click here > Beckhoff Automation.

Episode 13 with Fiona M. will be released tomorrow 😁

What have we been up to?

Slower start to the week, gearing up to a couple of days in London.

You might have seen my mugshot plastered over your newsfeeds... I was (very proudly) announced as MEPCA 's Manufacturing Champion of the Month, for September:

I had a catch up session with Matthew Foster & Suzi Wynne FCIM to look at our go to market strategy for announcing the new jobs tab.

A follow up with Sarah Black-Smith & Eleanor Baker to go through our plans for our Social Media panel at the Women in Manufacturing event, on the 19th September!

Quick haircut and an hour researching the tube system to end my Tuesday. Never been a fan of London. Too many people. 0 eye contact. Complicated transport for foreigners like me.

I make it there on Wednesday, though. Manage to negotiate a train from Tamworth, 3 tube journeys to the venue, then my hotel, then back to Mayfair to catch Jack Troutt for a pre-event Guiness. Got to know his successor at Manufacturing Management - Steve Goodsell , Pokémon extraordinaire.

The night itself was great, I got to spend some time with some amazing industry friends - Andrea Wilson , Fiona M. & John Parkes - FRSA . As well as meeting some inspiring people, too - Andy Knight , Neil Burrows , Mohammad Taher & Anisha Roberts .

EI Drinks Reception Sponsor

Here's a tip for other startups with 0 money, wanting to get your brand out there:

  1. Sponsor Events.
  2. Find a way to distribute your brand.
  3. Find partners to split the cost.
  4. Make the most of the opportunity.

Here's what we done:

We aimed for 15 partners at £300 each to cover the cost of sponsorship, leaflets and an iPad for the lucky winner.

We put an A5 flyer on all 300 guest's seats explaining what EI is, how it might be relevant to them, QR code to track downloads, show all of our partners logos.

Scan to win an iPad

How are we making the most of the opportunity?

I printed 2000 of them. 150 are going into the delegates bags at the Women in Manufacturing event. 700 of them in the bags at EMCON and the rest on the table at PPMA. We'll also be pushing the iPad giveaway through our recruitment partners as an incentive to sign up to the app. 2000+ valued eyes on the brand for £0.

EI Partners

The closing line is very me - "They can't all be wrong, can they?" 😂

No time for a hangover, as I was back on the tube at 8am Thursday to get to the Make UK building for the Pre Launch of John Robinson Manufacturing Initiative - Quorum Principle. Thanks to Jon Hill for the introduction and inviting me along. For any of you wanting to understand John's mission to create a more collaborative supply chain, already working with some of the worlds largest vendors, you can find a nice explanation here, by The Manufacturer :

Also got the opportunity to see Ben Davies from Chimp Management Ltd in action!

Ended the week with a few Friday meetings:
