Every great achiever is inspired by a great mentor

Every great achiever is inspired by a great mentor

How often have you heard people say, "Every great achiever is inspired by a great mentor?" Well, there is a reason that people, especially accomplished leaders, believe in this phrase. They believe in the power of mentoring and it's potential to fast track an individual's personal and professional growth. The question now is how to ensure success in mentoring?

Find the right mentor

Seek a person who has the time and energy to commit to your mentoring journey. Your mentor must inspire you in every way possible. If you cannot look into that person, your journey is doomed to failure. Find a mentor who is willing to share his/her experiences and come with a collaborative and learning attitude.

Be the right mentee

Your mentoring journey will depend upon you majorly. You need to go with the right attitude, willing to take constructive criticism and act upon it. Entering a mentoring relationship with a closed mind is nothing but a waste of time and energy. Go with a positive vibe and a willingness to stand up to your weaknesses and seek help.

Strike the right chord

Finally, the mentoring relationship deeply impacts the success of the whole process and journey. Seek to build a collaborative relationship based on mutual respect and trust. Have clear goals in place about what you seek to get out of the relationship and build your plan around it.

These three aspects form the foundation of a successful mentoring journey. Unless you make an effort to get these right, your growth acceleration through mentoring will be a distant dream.
