Exotic, Enticing, Exciting Morocco

 Morocco, you may have noticed, is having a moment. The North African country is attracting a whole new crop of travelers keen to wander its souks, marvel at the Islamic architecture and indulge in the cuisine – an incredible blend of delicious Arabic, Andalusian and Mediterranean flavors.

 In Marrakesh, the 800-year-old grand souk is a must-visit. Amidst all the shopping and haggling, spend some time in the Jemaa el-Fnaa square to see the snake charmers, acrobats, musicians, fakirs, and dancers who gather here.

Morocco has seen several new hotels open, including the glamorous Royal Mansour Casablanca on the coast, a passion project of the Moroccan royal family. With remarkable attention to detail and a location near the Old Medina, it’s perfectly placed for exploring the city.

 Just steps away, the majestic Hassan II Mosque offers stunning architecture and breathtaking sea views, while the bustling Corniche, lined with cafés and beaches, provides a great setting to experience the local culture.

For a break from the buzz of rug shopping in Fez or Marakesh, spend a few days in the slower-paced, blue city of Chefchaouen. It’s a photographer’s dream – many buildings in this 15th-century city built into the mountains are painted sky blue – expect to spend a lot of time admiring the views as you wander the medina and sipping mint tea on your riad’s rooftop to watch the sunset.
