Vision Picking at DHL - Augmented Reality in Logistics

DHL, the world’s leading logistics company, has successfully carried out a pilot project testing smart glasses in a warehouse in the Netherlands as a first step in their Augmented Reality journey. In cooperation with DHL customer Ricoh and leading wearable computing solutions expert Ubimax, the technology was used to implement ‘vision picking’ in warehousing operations.

Wave Picking

A method of selecting and sequencing picking lists to improve the efficiency of picking and minimize the waiting time of the delivered material. Shipping orders may be picked in waves combined by a common product, common carrier or destination, and manufacturing orders in waves related to work centres. Picked materials would then be consolidated by ship location during the packaging/shipping process.
