At First, They Will Laugh At You!

In a bustling African village nestled amidst rolling hills and lush greenery, there lived a diligent ant named Koffi.

One sunny morning, as Koffi was scurrying along the dusty village square, he noticed a small, shiny seed lying abandoned near a cluster of rocks.

Intrigued by the seed's potential, Koffi carefully picked it up and examined it with curiosity.

To his surprise, he realized that it was a seed from the mighty baobab tree, renowned for its towering height and majestic presence in the African landscape.

Filled with determination and a sense of purpose, Koffi made a decision that would change his life and the village forever.

He vowed to grow the tiny baobab seed into a magnificent tree that would provide shade, shelter, and nourishment for all the villagers.

Despite the initial skepticism from his fellow ants, Koffi remained steadfast in his vision.

Every day, without fail, he tended to the seed, watering it, nourishing the soil around it, and protecting it from harm.

Through scorching sun and torrential rains, Koffi never wavered in his commitment to nurturing the seedling.

As weeks turned into months and months turned into years, the seedling grew into a sapling, then into a young tree with sturdy roots and lush foliage.

Villagers marveled at Koffi's dedication and the remarkable growth of the baobab tree, which now stood tall and proud in the heart of the village.

The baobab tree soon became a symbol of resilience and perseverance in the community, a testament to Koffi's consistent care and unwavering determination.

It’s branches provided shade for weary travelers, its fruits offered nourishment to the hungry, and its presence brought a sense of peace and harmony to all who gathered beneath its canopy.

One fateful season, a severe drought descended upon the region, threatening the survival of the village and its inhabitants.

The once-lush fields withered, the rivers ran dry, and despair loomed over the land.

In their hour of need, the villagers turned to Koffi and his beloved baobab tree for help.

With its deep roots reaching into underground water sources, the baobab tree became a lifeline for the village, providing much-needed water and sustenance during the harsh drought.

The story of Koffi the ant demonstrates the stages we must pass through inorder to succeed

  1. Have a clear, compelling vision

Koffi’s vision

Grow a magnificent baobab tree that provides shade, shelter, and nourishment for all the villagers.

The vision is clear; you can picture it in your mind.

The vision is compelling, Koffi cared so much for the village that he wanted to take care of them.

A vision that has some emotional connection, eg taking care of those you love, bringing about change, can keep you going through the hard times

  1. Think in decades

A baobab tree takes 10-15 years to mature.

If Koffi only cared about getting a mature tree in 3 years, he would have given up.

Start thinking in decades but take daily actions that will move you closer to your vision.

  1. Seeds are everywhere

Unlike popular belief, we are all planting & nurturing seeds.

The difference is what kind of seeds you are planting.

Are they seeds of hate?

Are they seeds of love?

Are they seeds of despair?

Are they seeds of change?

Are they seeds of hope?

Ultimately, the seeds you plant through your thoughts, words and actions have a significant impact on your well-being, relationships, and overall happiness.

It's important to be mindful of the kind of seeds you are planting and nurture those that align with your values and aspirations.

  1. They will laugh at you, doubt you - until you succeed

The villagers made fun of Koffi, they did not understand his vision.

They doubted his efforts.

In fact, it took years before the seed broke ground. The villagers must have thought Koffi was delulu.

Most people will not understand your vision.

They will question your daily actions

They will not mock you

They will judge you for acting in a way that’s different from theirs

But when you succeed, they will respect you and seek you out.

  1. Impact on community

Whatever your vision is, it must have an element of impact on the community.

The ability to bring positive change to those around you is fulfilling.

Strive to leave a legacy.

Koffi’s story proves that consistency + persistence are what you need to achieve success.
