Celebrating all things quantum in Delft - with the first Fujitsu Quantum Day!
Over 120 delegates from 15 countries attended our first ever Fujitsu Quantum Day event, which took place on January 25 at the historic DOB Academy in Delft, Netherlands.
Featuring presentations from some of the world’s leading quantum computing experts, and a dynamic Fujitsu “fireside chat” style discussion chaired by European CTO John Walsh with CTO Vivek Mahajan and Head of the Quantum Lab Shintaro Sato plus lively audience interaction, the auditorium was full to capacity. The agenda included networking opportunities and a chance to see a variety of cutting-edge quantum technology demonstrations – making for an action-packed and very successful day!
Fujitsu made two important announcements during the event, which was well attended by media and analysts as well as an audience drawn from the academic and research communities, as well as start-ups and businesses. The first involved the creation of a new quantum lab in collaboration with the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), announced by Fujitsu's CTO Vivek Mahajan and TU Delft’s Rector Magnificus Tim van der Hagen. The new lab is an industry-academia collaboration hub dedicated to the development of quantum computing technologies, and is part of the Fujitsu Small Research Lab initiative. This dispatches Fujitsu researchers to technology incubators at leading global universities to conduct joint research with some of the top researchers in their fields, including professors as well as the next generation of innovators.
The winners of the Fujitsu Quantum Simulator Challenge competition were also unveiled live on the day, receiving their prizes in person from Vivek on stage as the culmination of the 7-month $100,000 global competition to test Fujitsu’s 39-cubit quantum simulator on novel problems and applications. The Finnish team from Quanscient Oy took the first prize for its project “quantum algorithms for fluid dynamics.
The fully-subscribed Fujitsu Quantum Day provided delegates with insights into the latest quantum computing research, with guest presentations including Professor Fujii from Osaka University and Professor Emerson from Keysight Technologies/University of Waterloo among others. Four professors from TUDelft shared their latest research across quantum hardware and applications, spotlighting the outputs of the existing 3-year collaboration with Fujitsu Research. Dr Artur Garcia from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), with whom Fujitsu has a collaboration program across the development of projects to exploit clinical data and simulate quantum computers, focused on large scale quantum systems’ simulation with supercomputers.
Fujitsu launches new AI strategy to deepen human-AI collaboration
On February 14, Fujitsu announced its vision of AI as a trusted assistant that supports and augments productivity and creativity as it unveiled a new AI strategy to strenghen data integration. Comprising generative AI capabilities with a dedicated platform and new Fujitsu Uvance offerings, Fujitsu plans to offer Fujitsu Data Intelligence PaaS as part of its Fujitsu Uvance portfolio and launch consulting services for AI and related technologies from March 2024 for users in Japan and from April 2024 to the global market.
Fujitsu's plans include the further commercialization of Fujitsu Kozuchi, its dedicated AI platform that allows users to accelerate the testing and deployment of advanced AI technologies, as one of its key AI commercial offerings and will focus on the integration of AI capabilities into solutions for the four cross-industry vertical areas of Fujitsu Uvance.
In addition to Fujitsu Kozuchi, Fujitsu Data Intelligence PaaS will also incorporate Fujitsu Track and Trust, Fujitsu’s blockchain offering that enables data linkage and traceability across companies and industries, and support for data platforms including Palantir and Microsoft Azure.

- Spotlighting AI-driven network technologies at MWC Barcelona 2024
Fujitsu will demonstrate how it is ‘connecting the world for a sustainable future’ with a range of innovative network technologies, AI use cases, and transformative Fujitsu Uvance offerings for its customers and society, on its booth 2G60 (Hall 2).
Fujitsu will introduce AI-enhanced network technologies critical for Open RAN deployments, including 5G virtualized radio base stations and the optical transmission system, with a variety of real-world use cases and demonstrations.
Technology demos will reveal Fujitsu’s initiatives for the 6G era and a preview of the next generation of innovative solutions under development, including the high-performance, low-power FUJITSU-MONAKA (code-name) processor.
Fujitsu will also show how generative AI powers commercial offerings like the ESG Management Platform, which supports decision-making for both business and social sustainability, along with other AI use cases and solutions. Under its vision for Fujitsu Uvance, which aims to realize a sustainable world, Fujitsu will contribute to the realization of Sustainability Transformation (SX) together with its customers through the development of network technology utilizing AI.
