Get the right insight to change the world

Have you ever had that small intuition that opens up a world of possibilities?

Have you ever had a clear vision of what you had to do in order to achieve something great?

It's a magical moment, and that's what recently happened in the olive oil sector.

Researching the sustainability factors of olive oil plants, we at Pieralisi asked ourselves: What if every small mill met the criteria of circular economy? It would be a leap forward for each of them and for the planet.

This simple intuition generated the idea of a high-quality plant with a small footprint and reduced energy and water consumption.

And the rest came easy then… Not really! Obtaining quality solutions is more challenging for small plants, as investments are usually less amortizable with small productions.

How to turn a good intuition into tangible reality?

The idea could only become practical by putting our technology at the service of business needs. In this case, we studied those of potential customers and had confirmation.

Small producers have big needs!

We identified at least five:

  • High quality olive oil
  • Space and resource savings
  • Protection of raw materials
  • Easy hygiene and cleaning
  • Personalized management and 4.0 control

Now this was the moment to turn on our Circular Thinking. For a winning project, every single characteristic of the plant had to serve both the miller and the environment.

My Mill 8.2

A complex but exciting job that gave birth to My Mill 8.2, our compact plant for premium oil, that combines sustainability and business focus.

How? Here are two examples:

1. Crushing. The new patented crusher combined with the cooling system allows an increase in polyphenols by up to 50% and aromas by up to 40% compared to traditional crushing.

  • The producer can aim for a Premium positioning
  • Natural resources are maximized in their nutritional properties

2. Extraction. The centrifugal extractor allows flexible management depending on the cultivar and ripeness of the fruit.

  • The producer optimizes performance even in quantitative terms
  • Waste of raw material is reduced

My Mill 8.2 is a small plant that plays a role in the grand project of Circular Thinking, where business and sustainability walk together.
