What sustainability has to do with welfare

One of the best investments, in personal life as well as in business, is discovering those actions that create momentum and bring results that exceed expectations, maximizing every effort.

Do actions with a positive domino effect really exist?

In the business field, this mechanism is possible through employee welfare. Improving people's lives brings benefits to individuals, but not only. It triggers a series of positive consequences that touch the entire company and can even involve the Planet because some initiatives also constitute a step forward for the 2030 Agenda's Sustainable Development Goals.

How can a single company influence the future?

At Pieralisi, we've been working on this topic for years, so we can speak from our experience on the 4 welfare themes we've addressed.

MyCompetence Training

1. Training makes both people and collaborations shine

Involving employees in training sessions means recognizing their value. Furthermore, thinking about their future also improves the company's future, which will have more competent people within it.

MyCompetence is the name of Pieralisi's training project, which also includes people from partner companies, with the collaboration of universities, companies and associations. In 2023, 800 participants from 169 different companies were involved. It's a way to build loyalty among partners and speak the same language, facilitating collaboration.

The extra idea is to continually update the programs, providing the most current tools, making people (and the company!) more competitive, as we will continue to do in 2024.

2. International exchanges increase cohesion and development

As an international company, we use trade fairs as a moment of meeting and exchanging ideas, optimizing time (and the energy consumption related to air travel). On these and other occasions, international exchanges are motivating for employees and also attract talent. At the same time, they increase internal cohesion and speed up the dissemination of correct business practices.

3. Psychological well-being is well-being for the company and society

Today, the importance of psychological well-being is universally recognized, and companies can also contribute. This year, we chose to activate the Mindwork - Wellbeing in Progress program. It's a confidential psychological support service via video call, accessible from anywhere, even in the privacy of home. For Pieralisi, this too is a way to underline the value of people.

4. Evaluating performance helps to grow

For years, Pieralisi has offered employees a Performance Review (the revision of the previous year's performance), providing a moment of transparent and constructive discussion with their supervisor. During the exchange, each person can focus on the current situation and outline a future action plan with their supervisor, following the best steps for their career.

Welfare helps meet the 2030 Agenda goals

Checking with the Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals, we see that corporate welfare actions also contribute to achieving these important points. They act directly, for example, on Health and Well-being, or indirectly, creating a social environment that helps support development and reduce inequalities.

A company that looks to the future starts with the future of people and thus with welfare actions, often involving local partners and improving the entire social fabric. An idea that responds to Pieralisi's Circular Thinking values, embracing the 2030 Agenda goals in an international vision. This is Circular Thinking!
