Ads Inspiration
If I had a pound for every time someone referenced this ad in 2019, I could buy one of these.
Is this ad groundbreaking? No. Was it groundbreaking four years ago? No. So why did this particular ad hit such a nerve? The opening line.
Occasionally, a copywriter can hit a nerve so precisely that it re-positions a product in such a poignant way, creating the illusion of a new category. Long story short - after seeing this, suddenly you're convinced that your skin needs vitamins the way your body might.
It's a brilliant line that combines two things we understand (& believe to be important) to make it feel even more necessary. No pun intended.
Everything that follows is fine, but the opening line is what does it.
How can you take a core benefit of your product and align it with something new yet familiar?
Ex. you sell mattresses - "Better than a sleeping pill" is not a perfect line, but you get the tangential association.
Don't follow this ad to a tee, but find a way to hit a nerve with your opening line as they did.
