How to Have a Successful Business and Family...Is That Possible?
For over 37 years, I’ve had the privilege of working in the mental health field and serving as an executive business coach for almost three decades. In that time, I've encountered one question that echoes in the minds of countless business owners: Is it possible to have both a successful business and a thriving family?
It seems like an elusive dream for many. I’ve seen it repeatedly: business people pouring every ounce of their energy into their work, while unintentionally letting their family life slip away. Balancing both seems like trying to serve two masters, leaving many overwhelmed and stretched thin. But what if I told you this balance isn’t just possible—it’s within your reach?
The Common Struggles of Business Owners with Families
Through my years of coaching and consulting, I’ve noticed a common pattern of struggles business owners face in their personal lives. They’re well-meaning, dedicated individuals who want the best for their families, but somewhere along the way, they get caught in these traps
If any of these sound familiar, you're not alone. You’re not the first to feel pulled in different directions, to wonder if success in one area means failure in another. But here’s the truth: you don’t have to sacrifice one for the other.
The Solution You’ve Been Searching For
Nineteen years ago, I wrote a book called Connecting with Your Teen because I saw firsthand the growing disconnect between parents and their children. Fast forward to 2024, and I’ve taken it a step further, creating an online course that equips parents with the tools they need to foster strong family bonds while simultaneously growing a thriving business.
What makes this course different? It’s designed specifically for business owners because I understand the unique pressures and demands you face. This isn’t just a “parenting guide”—it’s a comprehensive, 12-month program that integrates business growth, time management, and advanced techniques like Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) for sales. But the true magic lies in how it supports you in transforming both your business and your family life.
Imagine being able to not only grow your business but also strengthen your relationship with your children, empowering them to become leaders in their own right. Yes, that’s the kind of transformation this program brings.
A Successful Family Takes Hard Work—Just Like a Successful Business
You already know how much effort it takes to build a successful business. You’ve probably spent countless hours refining strategies, mastering your craft, and pushing toward your goals. But here’s the real question: how much time are you investing in your family?
What if I told you that the same principles that drive success in business can be applied to your family life? Think about it: structure, communication, follow-through, and growth. These are the building blocks of any thriving business, and they can be the foundation for a strong, loving family as well.
Let’s get real for a moment: no one said it would be easy. Building a lasting, meaningful relationship with your family requires effort—just like growing a successful business. But the rewards are worth every moment of investment.

Make Your Fate
It all comes down to a choice. You can continue as you are, juggling responsibilities and hoping things will change, or you can take the bold step toward a future where your business thrives, and your family flourishes.

That future is possible. But you have to make your fate. Take action today. Build your business and family together—because yes, it is possible to have both.

2moDear Dr. John Oda, my dear friend, what you have shared is wonderful and also important for many to learn and decide/ The issue here to me seems to change. Both family and occupation are huge, especially in case you are a finance manager. You have impressively less control of your time, energy, and tries when you work autonomously - and if this shocks someone, they don't have even the remotest clue about what's really the deal with undertaking. Remove time for your family and safeguard it fiercely. You can persistently start up one more start up or make the New Gigantic Thing, yet most of us simply get one family. We have a choice: We can look on family as something that draws energy away from us OR we can choose to experience family as that which gives us energy.
