How To Regain Confidence When It’s Been Beaten Up?
I used to act strong so I could stay in a safe distance between what the world would see in me and how I truly felt on the inside.
On the outside I was that confident, bubbly, outspoken young woman but on the inside I was full on self-doubt, hurt and uncertainty - all as a result of unresolved emotional baggage.
Mathew Hussey describes it as 'superficial confidence'. We create this version of ourselves which we choose to show to others.
The truth is I didn’t FEEL like I was worthy.
Growing up with a father who had a drinking problem and then losing both of my parents before I turned 15 had a tremendous effect on my self-worth. My perception of how much I believed I could have in life was strongly formed and it didn't serve me well. This on its own determined a lot my choices..
How did it manifest?
Years of self-sabotaging behaviours. By years I mean a decade. I indulged in party life. I wanted to find love but couldn't. I worked hard for everything I had because I thought I had to. I had unhealthy relationship with money. I did what I could to distract myself from facing my emotions.
It wasn’t until my early-twenties when my physical and emotional health spiralled down.
I was anxious, stressed and I felt unwell. Once again I felt lost. I knew I had to find the way to change my life and I DID!
I did it through SELF-LOVE.
Practising Self-Love in Body, Mind & Soul elevated my self-worth and allowed me to find understanding, forgiveness and peace.
My healthy daily routine became my priority! Meditation, Cold showers, Affirmations, Journaling, Healthy food, Exercise, Silence, Being in nature.
I begun surrounding myself with inspiring people. Whenever I had a problem I would find a new 'teacher' from spiritual healers, through to eastern medicine practitioners. I worked with high end business mentors. My network exploded.
I became obsessed with studying our mindset, motivation and behavioural psychology. I went off on a journey to self-development. I could then let go of my past and create my life from a place of freedom. I could see my life transforming before my eyes.
Not only I lost 12 kg, I launched my own female coaching business, I got married and more importantly I became a mum.
My happiness and confidence continued to skyrocket every time I achieved something I said I would even if it was a tiny step forward. I was moving in the right direction.
My thinking expanded. Today I believe in limitless possibilities.
The best part about overcoming challenges in life is that this is exactly where resilience is born. I was able to find my true passion for women's empowerment by finding solutions to my problems.
When we tap onto LOVE & CONFIDENCE from within we don’t search for it in all the wrong places. We find fulfilment,
I now know what being strong means. It’s the STRENGTH OF OUR HEARTS!
It’s the courage, vulnerability and loving ourselves unapologetically which make us strong.
It’s also having healthy Body, satisfied Mind and Spiritual connection that provide us with outstanding results in life.
