How to retain TOP TALENT? 5 Leadership Strategies!

Retaining top talent is always a challenge. I will share five strategies that will look at retaining the talent differently.

1. Embrace transitions as growth catalysts:

Transitions within the companies or outside are always beneficial. No need to to be worried when your top talent leaves. Support their transition, provide opportunities to grow and help them move forward in their career. In this thriving work culture, career transitions are but inevitable. Leaving employees will carry a positive feeling about their parent employer. New intake will bring fresh ideas. It is always good to encourage talent both ways.

2. Tailored support through change:

Change brings its own worries, apprehensions, uncertainties. Employees need support which is customized. One size fits for all is not always good. Listen to employees worries, guide and support them. Leaders to create a culture where employees feel valued and supported.

3. Corporate alumni connections:

Leaving employees should be made ambassadors, all time connections and a possibility of their returning to your companies in future (boomerang employees). There is a good percentage of people who join their previous organizations if given an opportunity. Leaders and their way to treat, nurture and develop employees matter a lot.

4. Culture of learning and upward mobility:

Leaders should create a culture of continuous learning, on the job learning, trainings, seminars, workshops. A learning centric culture through transitions will enable the employees within the company through upward mobility and for leaving employees as investment on learning will help them in their next career move.

5. Transitions as part of holistic talent strategy:

Career transitions within and outside the organizations are part of a holistic talent strategy. Leaders who are mindful of nurturing and guiding their talent, actually shape up a culture of bringing new ideas into their companies. It is of great help for the employees and the businesses as well.
