INDESTRUCTIBLE
FROM OFIR AWESOME NEWS ON FACEBOOK
This fabulous POET'S Day it's my pleasure to share a video link to one of the most enjoyable concerts I have ever experienced. It's from an artist named Jeff Lynne (and his famous band ELO) who is truly a master at writing hit songs and beautiful melodies. Here: https://lnkd.in/gptfjGBrMeanwhile.
Meanwhile, here's a poem by moi full of tropes and hopeful message:
INDESTRUCTIBLE
Outside, rages the chaos, the cold and the storm,
While inside, despair comforts and keeps hope warm.
You see, I've known so much tragedy and loss.
And so long been nailed to this lover's cross.
Of brief keeping, endless longing and recurrent death;
Where breathes there a love of indestructible breath?
Once, long ago, she enfolded into my youthful arms,
And I, enwhelmed, impassioned, succumbed to her charms.
Willingly and without worry, embraced the idea of joy,
And the foolishness that there are things time cannot destroy.
Then out of the desert the sandstorm came (who knows why!)
And amidst it, starved and bereft and wearily adrift, came I.
And once again now, to find some shelter and brief respite
From the bitter losses that love can neither save nor fight.
From the bitter crosses our starved souls are nailed to.
Oh, endlessly longing, tragic souls like me...and like you.
For whom, for a while, there is peace and tireless reverie,
For a moment now, to create just one indestructible memory.
While outside, rages the chaos, the cold and the storm,
Ah, inside, may we find comfort and keep each other warm.
