I’m feeling pretty chuffed today!
Despite missing a few days and not being the most consistent (hey, life happens), I’ve managed to share 31 secrets about myself with you. Well… technically 30, plus today’s own. But let’s not get too picky, okay?
#GTKM_day31: I hate being shouted at.
For the life of me, I cannot fathom how anyone thinks yelling gets results. It’s like my brain immediately switches to “fight or flight” mode. Actually, scratch that, it’s mostly “fight,” because my defenses shoot up faster than you can say, “Calm down.” Nothing—I repeat—NOTHING will pass those walls.
I prefer a soft-spoken approach, and I try (keyword: try) to extend the same courtesy. The only exception? My toddler. And, spoiler alert, shouting at them doesn’t work either. So, I’ve resorted to the soft voice™. Parenting 101: The loudest thing in the room gets ignored.
Honestly, having kids makes you reflect a lot. I catch myself constantly monitoring my words, my actions, and even my thoughts (because we all know thoughts become words). It’s exhausting, but it’s worth it.
Am I alone in this? Please say no. 🙃
