Klaviyo goes hard, 3PL Cheatsheet, TikTok Ban, and Amazon's Profile 👩

Hey there👋

Hope you're doing well! I’ve just watched Dune 2, and the real world feels like a whole different planet after Villeneuve’s cinematography! Anyway, here is the March portion of news to discuss, so let’s get our teeth into it:

  • Klaviyo Has Reported Robust Revenue Growth & Entered the Services Business 😳
  • Comparison Table: US 3PL Providers for Shopify 🚚
  • TikTok is about to be banned in US
  • Amazon's Average Customer Profile Is Revealed 👽

1. 💸 Klaviyo Has Reported Robust Revenue Growth & Entered the Services Business

Klaviyo released its 8-K filing in early March, announcing its financial results for the fiscal year that ended with the close of 2023. Unsurprisingly, the 2023 revenue of the platform shot up by 48%, reaching $698.1 million. The company’s customer base expanded to over 143,000 users. Well done! 👏

But social media posts tagging the marketing automation giant weren’t devoted to the figures only. The news about Klaviyo starting its professional services swept all over X & LinkedIn. Agencies and freelancers alike are all ablaze with indignation at the chance of this tech company robbing them of their customers. And, well, who will blame them?

Klaviyo now offers a comprehensive list of services:

1️⃣ creating email templates within a Klaviyo account,

2️⃣ building flows (automated sequence of steps) within the customer’s Klaviyo account for email sends,

3️⃣ implementing email sends from kickoff to performance review 😱

Breaking out in cold sweat, are you? Klaviyo’s initiative is definitely dangerous to the livelihood of Email Marketing Agencies. Let’s see how it all goes!

2. 🧐 CheatSheet: US 3PL Providers for Shopify

Shall we get down to more practical matters, the ones right at hand? Let's talk logistics!

I’ve been into the subject a lot lately. And I noticed how much info is scattered across the internet and how hard it is to juggle the tabs, comparing the offers and fulfillment options. Especially when you need a cross-continental service with affordable pallet prices, a Shopify app, and a US warehouse 😵

So, I rolled up my sleeves, gulped my already cold coffee, and compiled all accessible data into one handy chart so you never have to suffer the pains of doing this from scratch:

Check out my US 3PL Providers for Shopify Cheatsheet!

Do you have an idea for Cheatsheet like that? (Call sandworm 🐛) Let us know!

3. TikTok is about to be banned in US Shop Listings Now Pop Up in Google Shopping

The rumors about banning TikTok in the US don’t lie. CNN writes that a bill has been approved by a key House committee, and if enacted in the future, it would prohibit US app stores from hosting TikTok on their platforms.

Although, TikTok Shop doesn’t stop growing its business spread: from now on, you can see sponsored TikTok Shop listings in Google Shopping. The search ads are supposed to bring more traffic to the platform, but for sellers, it’s just an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone (figure of speech, just a figure of speech — I’m a strong opponent to violence against animals, FIY 🦃)

4. Amazon's Average Customer Profile Is Revealed

The ecommerce behemoth, according to a consumer analytics firm Numerator, is especially favored by white Gen X women. This customer earns about $60K per year and spends $2,662 on the platform. Oh, the pride of the “Amazon-primed”!

Baby Boomers even outnumber Gen X among Amazon shoppers but are slightly less likely to shop with the company than the overall US consumer.

Besides, eight out of 10 US shoppers bought something from Amazon in the past year, which still makes it come second after Walmart, whose US customer percentage is 95%.

5. Other News

  • US ecommerce sales hit ATH in 2023.
  • Thrasio, the famous Amazon brands aggregator, filed for bankruptcy in late February.
  • Look what I’ve found: a DTC job board where you can hire the best experts in the industry.
  • WhatsApp and Messenger will become interoperable in the EU.
  • Temu, the Chinese marketplace, will be opening to US & EU sellers.
