These are the last few days of Outside In: Meera Mukherjee and Jaidev Baighel, our exhibition that brought together the works of Meera Mukherjee and Jaidev Baghel. It’s really special— don’t take my word for it. I have friends who have come multiple times with plans to come again this week. When you do come, admire the various pieces on display, and specifically look for the exhibit called Mother and Child and notice how the two artists have taken two different approaches to the same theme. We have guided walks on October 20, Sunday, at 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Take a selfie and share it on social media. Tag us. It’s all free. The post, the guided walks and the exhibition.

On the weekend we also have a book launch. The Memory Keepers and Future Seekers is a fascinating book that shares the rich cultural history of Goa through its heritage houses. See the pictures, read about the stories and discover a side of Goa away from the beaches. The photographer and author, Ulka Chauhan and Samira Sheth, will be in attendance.

And on your way out, stop at the MAP store. Check out the Book of Gold. That’s all I’ll mention here.

Come over to MAP.

Curtain Call: The Long Running Theatre of Life in Goa’s long standing Homes

“The house is a stage for early seductions, for homework being written, for swaddled babies that freshly arrive from the hospital, midsummer dusks and the warmth of freshly baked bread,” says Swiss born British author and philosopher on everyday life, Alain De Botton, in his book, The Architecture of Happiness. But how moving would this home-stage be if its show ran through centuries with multiple generations of ancestors and descendants as its players?

Goa’s long standing heritage homes perfectly embody this long running theatre of life. These ancestral homes have been headliners for centuries, with some lived in by the same family for over 300 years. They are the stage on which family stories play out and memories are made and kept — carefully passed down through time — and well preserved within their patinated walls.”
