LEADERSHIP & THE 4C'S
OPENING
Welcome to the latest edition of our Newsletter here at Ice Recruitment.
In this edition we are tackling the topic of
1) leadership conversations (A brilliant framework) & then finishing off with
2) Career advice from business leaders. (don't miss that, a golden nugget every edition). "WHAT WOULD YOU TELL THE YOUNGER YOU?"
1) The 4c's really are an amazing framework for leaders at all levels.
I came across this framework many years ago and it served me well as a sales director.
For me, they represent "The Power of Conversations in Leadership" to help have the right conversations with the right people at the right time, all leading to higher retention.
If you are a leader it would do no harm to use this framework, and by the way, as a leader lets not forget, you are also likely to have your own manager who should be using these with you as you will be the employee.
Here is a high level summary of the 4c's
on our website there is more detail should you wish to read in more depth (6 minute read)
2) Career Advice - "what would you tell the younger you?"
I am blessed to have an amazing network of leaders and I asked many of them to provide quotes to the the following question.
"When it comes to career, what would you tell your younger you?"
I absolutely love this one. This is from a sales director of a global IT sales company
"I'd tell my younger self to network as much as possible at the start of my career- young, old, senior, junior and once you’ve come across someone you’d really like to aspire to emulate, say a VP, MD or Entrepreneur, then talk to them about what they’ve achieved, how they did what they’ve done – then seek for them to be your professional mentor. Priceless"
How good is that right? don't hide, wlak the floors, introduce yourself to people, network, network, network.....
many more to come in the editions to come.
Go well

3moThe fourth C—Caring conversations—isn't just another box to tick on the leadership checklist; it's the lifeblood of a healthy, sustainable workplace. In a world where everyone, from entry-level employees to seasoned executives, is grappling with pressures, the ability to create a safe, empathetic space for people is what sets a leader apart. It’s the moment when leadership transcends metrics and targets, and instead, becomes about humanity. Caring conversations, when done right, are less about platitudes and more about deep listening. Leaders who master this know how to sense the early tremors of burnout, mental health struggles, or general discontent. They don’t wait for problems to fester; they address them with empathy and action. And in those moments of vulnerability, something crucial happens: trust is built. We all want to feel seen and heard, especially at our lowest. That’s what the fourth C offers—a chance to show your team that you’re not just invested in their productivity, but in their well-being. And when people feel cared for, they don’t just stay—they thrive. Trust me, leaders who neglect this are missing the real point of leadership.
