📬 BULLETIN NEWS: Coldplay’s UK stadium concerts will benefit grassroots venues

Music Ally doesn’t cover many tour announcements, but Coldplay’s earlier this week has a couple of interesting angles:

The band will play two nights at Hull’s Craven Park Stadium then six nights at London’s Wembley Stadium next August.

10% of the proceeds will be donated to charity the Music Venue Trust to support its work with grassroots venues - going above and beyond what even the Trust has been campaigning for: £1 from every ticket sold to stadium and arena shows

The band are also continuing their sustainability drive, promising to power the Wembley shows with 100% solar, wind and kinetic energy.

Coldplay are also using a postcode-based filtering system to try to ensure that 50% of the tickets for the Hull shows go to local fans

👥 MUSIC ALLY TEAM TALK:  Origin Støries’ Sean Bradford talks AI in the live space

Team Talk is our interview series where our marketing experts speak to music industry teams about their latest work, best practices, and smart strategies.

  • In our latest interview, Music Ally's Sarah Seukeran talks to Sean Bradford, artist, DJ, and founder of Origin Støries, a creative studio that makes “custom AI-powered tools for co-created experiences.”
  • The company has created a number of interactive and innovative activations for music events.
  • "What we’re doing is machine learning," says Sean. "It’s not artificial intelligence, but a subset of AI. But the word “AI” caught on – it’s the buzz trend, and so that’s what it is! And then there’s this idea that it’s “fake”: “artificial” means “fake” as a word, in general. So it’s already not leading with the best [description] of what it actually is."
  • Why is Sean excited about this kind of AI? Here's an example he gives: "There’s a DJ this weekend in Amsterdam, and he’s basically going to play back-to-back with an AI that’s been trained on his own music – and that’s a super-big thing."

🤔 A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA...

And finally… our daily Bulletin newsletter is loved by subscribers for its instant industry analysis - but secretly, the part they like most is the ‘A Little Something Extra’ section at the bottom of the email. Here's a few of the best recent links:

  • There just aren’t enough games where you have to ride a hobby horse through obstacle courses. But now there’s a new entry to the hobby-obby canon!
  • The UK’s Royal Armouries museum for arms and armour has a new promo video “serving curatorial realness”. It’s rather wonderful.
