The March 4th edition of the NHLA Hardwire

The Month of March

“March” is named for the Roman god of war, Mars. In the early Roman calendar, March (or Martius) was the first month of the calendar year. As March brought the first day of spring with the vernal equinox, it was the start of new beginnings.
I Martius am! Once first, and now third!
To lead the Year was my appointed place;
A mortal dispossessed me by a word,
And set there Janus with the double face.

–Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, American poet (1807–82)

Update on the EUDR from the American Hardwood Export Council

Our partners at the American Hardwood Export Council continue to work on behalf of the U.S. hardwood industry to find a solution to the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

AHEC is in the process of preparing a pilot test to present to the European Commission at the end of March. The regulation is still on track to be implemented beginning January 1, 2025 for large European importers (companies with revenues in excess of 50 million Euros or 250 employees) and on June 30, 2025 for smaller importers.
