Merry Christmas
At Christmas we celebrate the birth of Jesus, but it is becoming harder and harder to talk about him. The truth is that people have been doing wrong things that have tarnished my Lord's image, so I want to take the opportunity to say a few words in his defense.
Millions were killed in the name of Christianity, but Jesus himself never used violence to impose his ideas, because he said who comes from God seeks to do his will, but who hates his neighbor and wants his death turns out to be, in fact, son of the devil, who was always a murderer (Gospel of John, chapter 8 verses 31 to 47).
It may seem that Christianity is a materialistic religion, because Christians talk so much about money; but Jesus was not so concerned about that. He said that a person's happiness does not depend on what he or she has and that God, who created and sustains all things, will surely take much better care of his children. In fact, Jesus did teach that those who make riches the object of their lives will not be able to serve God (Gospel of Luke chapter 12, verses 13 to 34; Gospel of Matthew chapter 6, verses 24 to 34).
Many Christians act as if they were better than others because of their religion, but Jesus said that He came to save those who were lost and that there would be much more joy in heaven for a sinner who repented than for ten righteous who did not need to. He even promised that he would never send anyone who came to him for salvation (Gospel of Luke chapter 15; Gospel of John chapter 6, verses 35-40).
It is impolite to attend a party without talking to the birthday boy! Whether you are nominally Christian or not, I suggest you take time this Christmas to read the Gospels and see what Jesus really has to say. Merry Christmas!
